Ensuring the safety of the power transmission grid during the storm season

In order to ensure the safe and continuous operation of the power transmission grid in the province during the upcoming storm season, Phu Yen Power Transmission has implemented many synchronous technical solutions, while strengthening propaganda to protect the safety of the line corridor.

 

Implement multiple technical solutions

 

With the goal of ensuring safe operation of the power transmission grid system in the province, right from the beginning of the rainy season, Phu Yen Power Transmission has focused on implementing many projects to repair and upgrade the grid's equipment system.

 

At Tuy Hoa 220kV Transformer Station (Hoa Quang Bac Commune, Phu Hoa District), this unit has completed the replacement and energized the 220kV-125MVA AT1 transformer to replace the existing transformer since the beginning of October.

 

Mr. Nguyen Duy Minh Khang, Head of the Tuy Hoa 220kV Transformer Station Operation Team, said: In order to energize the AT1 transformer on schedule and ensure absolute safety for people and equipment, during the construction process, all units closely coordinated with each other in every step and strictly followed the working procedures. After 3 days of construction, we completed the replacement of the AT1 transformer as required.

 

In addition, to overcome the limitations of the 22kV distribution system - Tuy Hoa 220kV transformer station including long cables passing through many bays, many bends and pressing on the edge of the iron support, which has the potential risk of 22kV power cable discharge under the impact of load and operating time, Phu Yen Power Transmission has deployed the project of Repairing the 22kV distribution system - Tuy Hoa 220kV transformer station with bay 432, 22kV busbar system, TD42 self-use transformer and 22kV power cable system.

 

This project was also completed last September, helping to shorten the length of the 22kV power cable from 190m to 25m. This is an effective solution, helping to minimize the risk of 22kV system failure leading to AT2 transformer failure when the rainy and stormy season is approaching.

 

According to Mr. Tran Dinh Tho, Deputy Director of Phu Yen Power Transmission, in addition to the above items, the unit also completed the item of Repairing the DC1 self-consumed power system at Tuy Hoa 220kV Transformer Station. The power source serving the control of all primary equipment, relay protection circuits, and interlocking circuits in the station are all supplied from this system. The completion of this item has contributed to ensuring the control and protection system works reliably, helping Tuy Hoa 220kV Transformer Station operate safely and continuously.

 

Protect the safety of the corridor

 

According to Phu Yen Power Transmission, during the storm season, cases of trees falling on power lines, flying objects getting caught in power lines causing grid failures, etc. are very common situations. In order to minimize this problem, Tuy Hoa Power Transmission Team is continuing to inspect corridors, mobilizing people to trim trees, and tie down temporary roofs and nets that can fly into the power grid during storms.

 

Deputy Head of Tuy Hoa Power Transmission Team Nguyen Manh Dung said: In order to effectively protect the safety of the transmission line corridor, the unit has organized propaganda on protecting the transmission line corridor, combined with social security work in Xuan Loc commune (Song Cau town). At the propaganda session, the unit showed clips on transmission line safety, distributed more than 100 leaflets, instructed people on what to do, preventive measures, and limited the risk of violating the transmission line corridor such as: Do not plant tall trees under the corridor, do not burn fields near the transmission line, mobilize people to cut down tall trees and perennial trees near the transmission line corridor, ensuring safety for the grid when the rainy and stormy season is approaching.

 

In addition, Phu Yen Power Transmission also took advantage of technology, using UVA and crocam machines to check the heat emission of joints and insulators along the entire line and discovered that the 220kV Tuy Hoa - Song Ba Ha and 220kV Tuy Hoa - Hoa Hoi lines had some insulators that were heating up. Thereby, the unit quickly registered for an emergency power outage to replace the above-heated insulators, ensuring the safety of the transmission grid system.

 

During the past 2 months of September and October, Tuy Hoa Mobile Working Group also increased surprise equipment inspections, night discharge inspections, moisture-proofing of outdoor equipment cabinets; carried out many industrial cleaning and equipment maintenance sessions for feeders; coordinated with the Hoa Hoi Solar Power Plant working team to handle the SF6 gas leak of the 276 feeder circuit breaker of Hoa Hoi - Tuy Hoa 220kV feeder...

Ensuring the transmission grid in Phu Yen province operates safely and continuously before, during and after the 2024 storm season is the top priority of the unit at present. Up to now, the technical solutions have been completed well, the unit is continuing to strengthen the inspection of the transmission grid, coordinate to mobilize people to comply with regulations on protecting the safety of the corridor...
