Meet the needs of domestic and production water
According to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, since the beginning of the year, thanks to favorable water sources, the supply of water for daily life and production in the summer-autumn crop in the province has been ensured, meeting and exceeding the set target. The total amount of water supplied for daily life from the beginning of the year to date in the province is over 30 million m3/38.7 million m3 of the annual plan. As of September 6, 2023, the total amount of water stored in irrigation reservoirs is 242 million m3/287 million m3, reaching 66.4% of the designed useful capacity. In addition, the total amount of water at Ham Thuan hydropower reservoir is 482.48 million m3/655.21 million m3, reaching 92.34% of the designed useful capacity, and Dai Ninh hydropower reservoir is 125.65 million m3/193.69 million m3, reaching 49.91% of the designed useful capacity.

Based on the existing water resources, the Irrigation Works Exploitation Company Limited prioritizes water resources, ensuring that it meets the registered demand for clean water production for people's daily life until the end of 2023. From there, to apply the 2023 winter-spring crop production and the following seasons, in order to save irrigation water, adapt to climate change, hot weather, and prolonged drought.

Ensuring safety of dams and reservoirs during flood season
According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, from now until the end of 2023, there is a possibility of about 8-10 storms and tropical depressions, of which about 4-5 will directly affect the mainland of our country. Therefore, to ensure the safety of dams and reservoirs in operation in the province during the 2023 flood season, Mr. Nguyen Huu Phuoc - Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development requested the Irrigation Works Exploitation Company Limited and localities where reservoirs are located to coordinate and ensure the safety of dams and reservoirs. Especially focus on preventing and combating landslides within the scope of dams and reservoirs to ensure the safety of the works. To perform this task well, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development requested the Irrigation Works Exploitation Company Limited to closely monitor the developments of weather, rain, floods, and flow to irrigation reservoirs.
At the same time, develop a plan to store water and discharge floodwater from reservoirs during the rainy season. Priority will be given to early storage of water in newly built, upgraded and repaired reservoirs to ensure safe operation of the project and maximum storage of water at the end of the rainy season to serve production and daily life in the dry season of 2023 and 2024.
Along with that, the company needs to monitor and inspect the works before, during and after rain and floods, focusing on current damaged, degraded and unsafe reservoirs when storing water to detect and promptly handle risks that cause unsafety to the works. On the other hand, inspect, maintain and test the operation of the gates at the flood spillway, deep spillway, sand discharge culvert, water intake culvert and mechanical equipment serving flood discharge, sand discharge, water supply at reservoirs, dams, ensuring the equipment operates normally in all weather conditions... The goal is to ensure both the water source for people's daily life and production and the safety of reservoirs during the rainy and stormy season.
