Offering incense to commemorate the 85th anniversary of the Southern Uprising

On the occasion of the 85th anniversary of the Southern Uprising Day (November 23, 1940 - November 23, 2025), on the morning of November 23, the delegation of the City Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, led by Secretary of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Tran Luu Quang, offered incense and flowers to President Ho Chi Minh and the heroic martyrs at the National Historical and Cultural Relic "Hoc Mon District Palace Site - a place to commemorate the Southern Uprising on November 23, 1940", the National Historical Relic of Giong Junction, Hoc Mon District Martyrs' Cemetery, and the Memorial Stele of the soldiers of the Go Mon Platoon.

Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Tran Luu Quang offered incense to commemorate President Ho Chi Minh at the National Historical Site of Giong Junction.

At the memorial sites, the delegation burned incense and observed a minute of silence to commemorate the great President Ho Chi Minh, the people and soldiers who did not fear danger and sacrificed their blood and bones in their homeland of Hoc Mon - 18 betel garden villages, for the independence and freedom of the nation.

Immediately after the ceremony, the delegation attended the traditional meeting to celebrate the 85th anniversary of the Southern Uprising and the death anniversary of the Southern soldiers organized by the Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hoc Mon, Ba Diem, Dong Thanh communes and Xuan Thoi Son commune.

Here, the delegation reviewed the heroic tradition of the historic Southern Uprising Day on November 23, 1940. Under the direct leadership of the Southern Party Committee, the uprising broke out in localities with the fiercest spirit and the strongest will to attack, signaling a new turning point in the Vietnamese revolution, our people rose up to fight to regain independence and freedom for the nation.

Reviewing the brilliant milestones of the Southern Uprising, Ms. Le Ngoc Anh, Secretary of the Hoc Mon Commune Party Committee, emphasized that the Southern Uprising on the night of November 22 and the morning of November 23, 1940 broke out simultaneously in many localities; most strongly in Gia Dinh, Cho Lon, My Tho, Vinh Long ... The armed forces and the masses rose up to attack the enemy, attacking many posts and posts. Revolutionary governments were established in many places. The red flag with the yellow star flew for the first time in demonstrations and in places where revolutionary governments had been established. In Hoc Mon, the army and people rose up together, organized into 4 wings to attack Dinh Quan - the lair of the colonial invaders and their henchmen.

Although the attack was unsuccessful, it left a great echo, demonstrating the indomitable will of the people of the Southern region; demonstrating the ardent patriotism; affirming the indomitable spirit, the determination to fight and win, and wholeheartedly following the Party and the revolution of the Southern army and people for the aspiration of national independence and freedom and happiness of the people.

The Southern Uprising left behind many experiences, contributing to the August General Uprising in 1945 and the great victory in the Spring of 1975; reflecting the heroic spirit of uprising, contributing to beautifying the history and tradition of revolutionary struggle of the Party and our people, especially the people of Saigon-Cho Lon at that time.

According to Ms. Le Ngoc Anh, the spirit of the Southern Uprising will always live on through time, a shining mark in the history of the nation's revolutionary struggle.

"Promoting that immortal tradition, in the context that the whole country is implementing the two-level local government model, the Government and people of Hoc Mon commune, Xuan Thoi Son, Ba Diem and Dong Thanh communes always uphold the spirit of solidarity, unity of will, and determination to successfully complete political tasks, contributing to building the homeland to be increasingly rich, civilized, modern, and affectionate, worthy of the people's trust and the sacrifices of previous generations," Ms. Le Ngoc Anh affirmed.

A large number of people from Ba Diem, Hoc Mon, people inside and outside Ho Chi Minh City came to offer incense to commemorate the heroic martyrs at the National Historical and Cultural Relic "Hoc Mon District Palace Site - a place to commemorate the Southern Uprising on November 23, 1940".

At the meeting to review the tradition, Tran Thi My Duyen, proud to be a daughter of the homeland of the Southern uprising, wearing the green shirt of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, vowed to turn pride into action, turn promises into deeds, to be worthy of the trust of generations of leaders, worthy of the heroic tradition, so that the flame of Southern Vietnam in 1940 will always shine brightly to light the way for the youth of today and tomorrow.

On this occasion, the Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hoc Mon, Ba Diem, Dong Thanh and Xuan Thoi Son communes presented many gifts to policy families, people with meritorious services to the revolution, and soldiers of the South; commended and rewarded coaches and athletes with high achievements.

Previously, the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union and the City Command coordinated to organize the traditional camp "The 6th Nam Lan gong sound - 2025" for union members, youth of union bases and armed forces in the City with the 189th Submarine Brigade, Tran Dai Nghia University, and the People's Police University. The camp was held at the Nga Ba Giong National Historical Site and red addresses in the communes of Ba Diem, Hoc Mon, Dong Thanh, Xuan Thoi Son, the land of "18 betel garden villages", associated with the tradition of loyalty in the Nam Ky uprising.
