A 43-year-old woman in Vinh Phuc had a dull headache and went to the doctor and was surprised to discover a bone tumor.

Patient NTLA (43 years old, in Tam Duong - Vinh Phuc), had symptoms of dull pain on the right side of the head that lasted for a long time, these symptoms did not improve despite using drugs to treat neurological and sinus diseases. The patient was examined by an ENT specialist, performed tests, and had a CT scan of the nose and sinuses showing an image of a right ethmoid bone tumor, measuring about 1.6x1.5cm.

After consulting with specialists and ruling out other causes, the doctor determined that this was a benign bone tumor in the ethmoid sinus and decided that endoscopic surgery was the optimal treatment for the patient.

During surgery, the doctor uses an endoscope to access and remove the tumor. Endoscopic surgery helps minimize invasion and limit damage to surrounding structures such as nerves and blood vessels. With high expertise and modern equipment, in just 50 minutes, the surgical team completely removed the tumor, while cleaning the sinus to avoid infection and post-operative complications.

After surgery, the patient recovered well, after only 5 days of treatment, Ms. A was able to breathe naturally, her symptoms of headache and nasal congestion had improved significantly and she was discharged from the hospital. The doctors instructed the patient to care for the surgical wound, prevent infection and maintain clear sinuses to avoid recurrence.

According to doctors, ethmoid osteoma is a rare tumor that develops from bone tissue in the ethmoid sinus area. This type of tumor is usually benign, and osteoma occurs due to uncontrolled abnormal growth of bone tissue in the sinus area. Surgery for ethmoid osteoma requires precise intervention, skill, and deep expertise.
