The Hanoi People's Committee has just issued a Plan to bury telecommunications and electricity lines and cables underground on streets in Hanoi in the period of 2021 - 2025.
According to the reporter's records, currently many streets in Hanoi still have tangled electric wires and telecommunication cables, causing loss of urban beauty.
Electric wires and cables tangled and sagging on the streets and sidewalks not only affect the landscape but also pose potential dangers to people living in the area.
Bundles of cables and electric wires hang tangledly on the electric poles in lane 102 Truong Chinh (Thanh Xuan, Hanoi).
According to Ms. Tuyet, a businesswoman in Lane 102 Truong Chinh, in the past, when the surrounding area was still crowded with houses, the electric wires were fixed high up, close to the walls of the houses. However, since the project to clear some households, the electric wires have no fixed support and sag low, so the investor had to temporarily use a ladder to prop them up, to avoid causing danger to people's movement.
This area is crowded with vehicles, especially students at school start and end times.
The electric wires are bundled and supported by wooden ladders. Many sections are tangled like "spider webs", challenging people every time they pass through this route.
The tangled bundles of electric wires stretch from the beginning of the street to the end of De La Thanh Street. This street is known for its many wooden furniture businesses. The electric wires and telecommunication cables sag down to the signboards, creating a constant risk of fire and explosion.
On De La Thanh street, every electric pole is overloaded, tangled like "tangled silk" by tangled bundles of wires with the number of up to hundreds of strands.
A8 Ton That Tung Alley (Dong Da District) also has a similar situation. The street sells clothes, souvenirs... and is also tangled with bundles of electric wires extending above the shop signs.
Hundreds of electric wires and telecommunication cables cling to electric poles, leading to households in old apartment buildings and collective housing complexes.
During the rainy season, the electrical wiring system running close to walls, railings, and roofs has become a nightmare for many households. This is also partly the cause of a number of fires and explosions in the capital.
According to the plan, the City People's Committee set specific targets: Undergrounding 100% of power and information cable systems in urban development areas, renovated and newly built roads; continuing to underground telecommunications and power cables in about 300 streets.
Hanoi continues to mobilize telecommunications and electricity enterprises and investors to participate in investing in the construction of underground urban technical infrastructure works for common use to bury telecommunications lines and cables according to the Memorandum of Cooperation between the Hanoi People's Committee and enterprises.
For new streets and newly invested roads: Investors are required to build a system of tunnels and technical trenches for shared use for water supply, lighting, electricity and information according to planning and regulations.
