Accordingly, from August 1 to 6, the Department of Culture and Sports coordinated with the Engaging With Vietnam (EWV) Organization and related units to organize the 14th international conference Engaging With Vietnam with the theme "Living with heritage, recreating/creating heritage: Vietnam and the world".
In the series of activities responding to the conference, on the evening of August 2, the opening ceremony of the "International Fine Arts" exhibition was held at the University of Arts, Hue University (Hue University). This included a program introducing some types of intangible cultural heritage such as: Hue singing, Hue royal dance, Cham dance, Southern Khmer dance and singing... The performance of a few excerpts and the introduction of the costumes of the spirit mediums performed by some artisans participating in the conference to illustrate and further explain the topic related to the practice of worshipping the Mother Goddess of the Three Realms of the Vietnamese people was a spontaneous activity of a group of spirit mediums from the North.
All of the above artistic activities are only for the delegates who are researchers attending the conference, held on the campus of the University of Arts (Hue University), not for the community.
The provincial Department of Culture and Sports has worked with the conference organizers, the University of Arts (Hue University) and the group of artisans to learn from experience and will seriously implement the direction of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in Official Dispatch 2937 to protect and promote the value of intangible cultural heritage in the province to ensure that there are no conflicts in the community.
Previously, the Department of Cultural Heritage received information about the performance night and sent an official dispatch to the provincial Department of Culture and Sports to request clarification of the incident and take measures to remind and rectify activities related to the protection and promotion of intangible cultural heritage values in the province.
The Department of Cultural Heritage requests the provincial Department of Culture and Sports to direct relevant professional agencies to coordinate, clarify the matter, take measures to remind and rectify activities related to the protection and promotion of intangible cultural heritage values in the province, ensuring compliance with the Law on Cultural Heritage and the 2023 Convention, avoiding causing frustration in the community of heritage subjects as well as artisans holding the heritage. In addition, strictly implement the contents of Official Dispatch No. 2973/BVHTTDL-DSVH dated July 21, 2023 of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
