- On the occasion of the April 30 and May 1 holidays this year, officials, civil servants and students will have 5 days off (from April 30 to May 4, 2025) . It is expected that people's travel needs will increase dramatically. Therefore, in order to meet travel needs as well as ensure traffic safety, functional sectors in the province have been implementing measures and solutions to best serve travel needs and ensure safety for people .
Accordingly, since mid-April 2025, the Department of Construction has developed a plan to guide passenger transport units to mobilize maximum means of transport to serve passengers during the holidays. At the same time, strengthen propaganda, improve responsibility and professional ethics to drivers and service staff on vehicles such as: not collecting money higher than the declared and listed fare; strictly implementing regulations on traffic safety; civilized, enthusiastic and thoughtful attitude towards serving passengers...
Ms. Tran Bich Diep, Head of the Department of Transport and Traffic Safety, Department of Construction of the province said: To meet the travel needs of people during the April 30 - May 1 holiday this year, we have advised the leaders of the department to issue a plan, direct transport units and bus stations to develop plans and organize transport to meet the travel needs of people, ensure traffic safety, avoid congestion; organize propaganda, guidance, and require drivers to comply with traffic rules and prevent accidents, especially when traveling on winding mountain passes at night. Strictly implement the traffic safety procedures, the procedures for handling vehicles entering and leaving the station and arrange officers and employees to regularly monitor vehicles through journey monitoring devices and cameras (for vehicles that require installation) to promptly remind and handle drivers who violate the law; In particular, focus on controlling the speed and working time of drivers, ensuring continuous operation of journey monitoring devices and cameras when vehicles are in traffic.
At the same time, transport units and bus companies have the best priority and incentives for people in difficult circumstances, policy families, and the disabled, such as ticket prices, seats, departure and arrival times, and other accompanying services; strictly prohibiting the acts of collecting incorrect ticket prices or increasing ticket prices against regulations. Do not apply surcharges or adjust ticket prices for vehicles traveling to provinces and cities before, during, and after the April 30 - May 1, 2025 holiday.
On the morning of April 28, 2025, according to the reporter's records, at the Northern Bus Station, Lang Son City, the loudspeaker information system, the announcement board about routes, bus schedules, and ticket prices are always public and clearly posted. Vehicles entering and leaving the station all follow the instructions of the officers and employees of the Bus Station Management Board.
Ms. Hoang Thu Huong, Head of the General Department, Northern Bus Station, Lang Son City said: Currently, the bus station has 65 businesses and bus companies with 208 registered vehicles operating on nearly 66 inter-provincial and intra-provincial routes. On average, there are about 160 vehicles entering and leaving the station every day. It is forecasted that in the coming days, the number of passengers may increase from 30 to 50%. To serve the travel needs of people, we have coordinated with businesses operating at the station to develop plans and reserve means of passenger transport to promptly resolve any congestion at the bus station; increase trips to meet the travel needs of passengers, and implement transportation organization plans to ensure compliance with regulations set forth by competent authorities.
Currently, in the province, there is 1 public passenger transport enterprise by intra-provincial bus with 13 vehicles; 7 units and cooperatives operating passenger transport with 138 vehicles running on fixed routes, 30 units operating contract vehicles with 78 vehicles; 14 enterprises operating taxi transport with a total of about 454 vehicles...
Following the direction of the Department of Construction, transport enterprises and cooperatives in the province have implemented passenger transport plans for the Tet holiday very early. Ms. Trinh Thi Thu Phuong, Director of Doan Ket Transport Cooperative, Lang Son city, said: Currently, the unit has more than 40 vehicles operating under contracts and on fixed routes. To meet the travel needs of people during the April 30 holiday this year, the unit has made a backup plan of 5 to 7 additional vehicles to serve in case the number of passengers suddenly increases. Along with that, the unit also promotes propaganda and dissemination of traffic safety laws to vehicle owners, drivers, and service staff on vehicles.
Not only at cooperatives, at this time, fixed-route and contract passenger transport units in the province all have plans to ensure safety and meet the travel needs of people during the holidays. Mr. Tran Ngoc Hoang, a passenger bus driver on the Lang Son - Hanoi route, informed: To serve the travel needs and ensure the safety of passengers, when participating in traffic on the road, I always strictly comply with regulations such as: do not drive when using alcohol or beer; do not speed, overtake recklessly, encroach on lanes, always drive at the permitted speed, do not collect money higher than the ticket price, and strictly comply with regulations on ensuring traffic safety and order.
By closely following the direction and management of functional agencies and branches, especially the Department of Construction, we are confident that passenger transport units and bus station management units in the province will synchronously implement solutions, proactively prepare human resources and vehicles, ensuring the best service for people's travel needs before, during and after the April 30 and May 1 holidays, creating satisfaction in terms of quality, service and ensuring safety for people.
