On November 20, in Hanoi, the Vietnam Academy of Traditional Medicine ( Ministry of Health ) held the 43rd Anniversary Ceremony of Vietnamese Teachers' Day, November 20.
Delivering a speech at the ceremony, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Director of the Vietnam Academy of Traditional Medicine, Associate Professor, Doctor Nguyen Quoc Huy emphasized: Vietnam Teachers' Day is an opportunity for us to meet and congratulate generations of teachers, and also an opportunity for generations of students to remember the contributions of teachers who have devoted themselves to their careers and future. And what is more special is that the two noble professions that are respected and honored by the whole society are: teaching and medicine, because everyone understands that: the greatest assets of a person are health and intelligence.
Therefore, there is nothing more noble, more proud than when we can combine both of those things. Teachers are the ones who teach, nurture, and train future generations of physicians for the country; at the same time, impart knowledge, inspire, motivate, and awaken the potential and creativity in each individual learner.
Sharing about the achievements in the 2024-2025 school year, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Quoc Huy said: The Academy has completed the enrollment target for 2025 with 1,012 students, 332 postgraduate students admitted and enrolled; The Academy has been permitted by the Ministry of Education and Training to open a master's program in Medicinal Materials - Traditional Medicine with a research and application orientation. At the same time, it has successfully organized many regional and international conferences and scientific seminars in the field of Traditional Medicine and Pharmacy.
In particular, the Academy is proud to be one of five medical and pharmaceutical universities nationwide selected to invest in developing into key universities in the Government's Action Program to implement Resolution No. 72-NQ/TW of the Politburo on a number of breakthrough solutions to strengthen the protection, care and improvement of people's health.

The achievements that the Academy has achieved are only the first step in the journey to become a key university. Therefore, to strive to complete strategic goals, not just in one or two days but over a long period of time, it is necessary to have internal resources to implement. That resource is human resources - a team of highly qualified lecturers with comprehensive capacity and a team of good managers. The practical process of building and developing has affirmed that the team of teachers is the force that determines the quality of training, position, prestige and continuous development of the Academy.
“The training and development of lecturers, with the core being young lecturers, must be given special attention to ensure sustainability in the development strategy of the Academy. Therefore, the Academy's leadership continues to identify and prioritize the building and development of a team of lecturers, scientists and managers to meet the requirements of the task.
On the other hand, to affirm the position of the Vietnam Academy of Traditional Medicine in the current market mechanism and integration trend, we have no other way but to really try, try to the maximum in innovating the training program and content; innovating teaching methods and student assessment methods to develop and improve the quality to meet the increasing health care needs of the people", Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Quoc Huy emphasized.

Honored to represent thousands of students studying and researching at the Vietnam Academy of Traditional Medicine to express gratitude to teachers at the ceremony, Vu Kim Dung, a 5th year student of Traditional Medicine, emotionally shared: “For us, medical and pharmaceutical students, teachers are heroes. Teachers not only teach us knowledge, but also pass on a national heritage, pass on the heart of the profession and pass on the sacred belief of the physician - the pride of being able to contribute a small part to the cause of protecting people's health.

Especially, in the time when knowledge and national values are honored, the time when medical advances and traditional medicine prove their importance, we realize more and more that without teachers who persistently preserve and teach, that treasure of knowledge can be lost in time. It is teachers who silently extend the link between the past, present and future, so that traditional medicine not only exists, but also develops, so that Vietnamese medicine integrates and affirms its position in world medicine.
Discussing the teacher-student relationship at the ceremony, Dr. Tran Thi Thu Hien, Head of the Department of Botany and Medicinal Materials (Vietnam Academy of Traditional Medicine) shared: “During my years of teaching, what makes me happiest is not the academic achievements or research projects, but the moment when I see the students' eyes light up when they understand difficult problems; when I receive messages from graduates sharing about their work and their successes in their careers. Every time like that, I feel that all my efforts and dedication are duly rewarded.”

The teacher-student relationship is a beautiful value, a spiritual bond that is not found everywhere. In the Vietnamese educational environment, we are fortunate to still preserve that traditional value. And as teachers, we have the responsibility to preserve and nurture this relationship with love, respect and responsibility,” Dr. Tran Thi Thu Hien emphasized.
Previously, on November 19, Permanent Deputy Minister of Health Vu Manh Ha visited and worked with leaders of the Vietnam Academy of Traditional Medicine.
