On October 26th, Dong Thap University held its opening ceremony for the 2023-2024 academic year, attended by representatives from the Ministry of Education and Training, leaders of Dong Thap province, and thousands of students and new students. In 2023, Dong Thap University is recruiting for 41 undergraduate programs and 1 college-level program. As a result, 4,339 students from various provinces and cities completed the enrollment procedures and became new students of the university for the 2023-2024 academic year.

In the Mekong Delta, Dong Thap University is considered one of the largest universities in the region, tasked with training highly qualified human resources across multiple fields; conducting scientific research and providing community services; and contributing to the socio -economic development of the Mekong Delta and the entire country. Currently, Dong Thap University has over 500 staff members, including 12 Associate Professors, 95 PhDs, 327 Masters, and 38 doctoral candidates.
At the opening ceremony, Associate Professor Dr. Dinh Van Toan, Deputy Director of the Center for Educational Quality Accreditation, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, and Chairman of the Accreditation Council, presented certificates to 7 training programs of Dong Thap University. With these 7 programs recognized as meeting accreditation standards, Dong Thap University now has 23 out of 41 training programs that meet accreditation standards, accounting for 56.09%.

On this occasion, the People's Committee of Dong Thap province awarded certificates of merit to one collective and 22 individuals of Dong Thap University for their outstanding performance in the 2022-2023 academic year. Also at the opening ceremony, many new students and students of the university with good academic achievements and who overcame difficulties to excel in their studies received scholarships from the university and the Nguyen Sinh Sac Scholarship Fund.
