In April 2025, the Northern Power Corporation (EVNNPC) successfully completed the task of ensuring safe, stable and continuous power supply for 27 northern provinces and cities, especially during the April 30 - May 1 holiday, when the load increased.
With the goal of ensuring absolutely safe operation of the power grid, EVNNPC has directed its member units to strengthen inspection and review of the entire power system, strengthen the medium and low voltage grid, perform periodic maintenance of equipment, and clear the line corridor. At the same time, the Corporation has fully prepared means, spare materials and on-duty forces ready to handle any incident if it occurs.
Perform repairs, troubleshoot defects, and connect lines
In particular, during the peak holiday season, the Electricity Companies did not stop or reduce power supply as planned, prioritizing stable power supply for public entertainment venues, industrial parks, hospitals, administrative centers, event venues, as well as ensuring electricity for people's daily life.
In April 2025, EVNNPC's commercial electricity output reached 8.442 billion kWh, up 3.5% over the same period in 2024. The cumulative output in the first 4 months of 2025 reached 31.312 billion kWh, up 5.24% over the same period in 2024 and completed 28.75% of the 2025 plan assigned by Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN). Cumulative commercial cycle power loss reached 3.12%, down 0.65% over the same period in 2024 and 0.88% lower than the plan assigned by EVN. Power supply reliability indicators continued to improve, affirming the Corporation's continuous efforts in investing, operating and improving the quality of the power grid.
In customer service business, EVNNPC maintains good satisfaction indicators, ensures timely processing of new power supply requests, diversifies information receiving channels and continuously improves online electricity service processes. By the end of April 2025, the rate of customers paying electricity bills without cash is estimated at 94%, an increase of 5.94% over the same period last year; electricity revenue through non-cash channels accounts for nearly 99% of total revenue. The work of eliminating manual electricity collection counters continues to be promoted, in April, 609 more counters were reduced, leaving 2,740 counters in the entire Corporation. EVNNPC promotes propaganda on saving electricity, using electricity safely and effectively, especially during peak hot weather.

Regarding construction investment, in April, the Corporation energized 11 110kV projects, bringing the total number of projects completed in 4 months to 38/113 projects, reaching 34.5% of the yearly plan; of which 5 projects were ahead of schedule. In parallel, EVNNPC accelerated the construction of medium and low voltage projects, transformer station load sharing and key transmission lines, ensuring synchronous investment efficiency, contributing to improving the reliability of power supply and load response capacity.
EVNNPC continues to promote strong digital transformation in internal management, production and business operations and construction investment management. In April, the Corporation organized in-depth training on AI, NotebookLM, ChatGPT, Copilot M365 for its staff and workers to improve their skills and technological awareness, while promoting innovation in management and operations. Digital platforms such as centralized data warehouses, GIS grid management systems, electricity service support software, etc. are being built and completed, aiming at comprehensive and transparent data management, serving operations and making quick and accurate decisions.
The highlight of April was the successful organization of the 23rd Party Congress of the Northern Power Corporation for the 2025-2030 term. The Congress determined the direction of innovation in leadership methods, promoted the pioneering role of the electricity industry, considered the development of science and technology and digital transformation as the focus of improving production and business efficiency. The Congress elected an Executive Committee of 24 comrades; Comrade Do Nguyet Anh continued to be trusted to hold the position of Secretary of the Party Committee of the Corporation. This is an important foundation for EVNNPC to successfully implement strategic goals in the new development stage.
Entering May and the following months during the peak hot season, EVNNPC continues to focus on implementing key tasks, with the goal of ensuring safe, stable and continuous power supply to serve the daily and production needs of people, as well as important political and social events, such as high school graduation exams and university and college admissions. The Corporation continues to closely monitor the load situation, forecast electricity demand, especially in industrial parks, export processing zones and large electricity consuming enterprises. EVNNPC also directs units to coordinate with press and media agencies to promote propaganda on safe, economical and efficient use of electricity in the summer, especially during peak hours, while strengthening communication on protecting the safety corridor of the power grid.
Propaganda on safe and economical use of electricity in schools
In addition, EVNNPC continues to accelerate the progress of construction investment projects, especially key and medium-voltage projects to reduce load, reduce incidents, improve power supply capacity, and meet increased demand during the hot season. At the same time, the Corporation vigorously deploys preparations for the new organizational model according to the policy of merging and restructuring Power Companies and rearranging production and business activities after the end of the Power model. Key tasks include reviewing software, standardizing processes, preparing for system operation testing, and promoting internal communication to create high consensus. EVNNPC aims to build a flexible, economical, and modern management model to meet the requirements of sustainable development in the period of digital transformation and deep international integration.
EVNNPC continues to call on agencies, businesses and people to increase electricity saving, especially during peak hours at noon (13:00-15:00) and evening (20:00-23:00); use air conditioners reasonably (above 26°C), limit the use of many high-capacity devices at the same time, contributing to ensuring stable power supply and reducing costs.
