Da Nang City delegation works with ARM Semiconductor Company (USA)

DNO - During a working trip to the United States, on the afternoon of February 29 (local time), a delegation from Da Nang City led by Permanent Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Ho Ky Minh visited and worked with AMR Company (Advanced RISC Machines Ltd.) in San Jose, California.

Standing Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Ho Ky Minh introduced an overview of the investment and business environment, preferential policies, investment support in the semiconductor sector in the city and the city's economic development orientations.
In particular, the city identifies semiconductor chips as an opportunity and growth driver for Da Nang in the coming time.

The city's goal through meetings and working sessions with US semiconductor businesses is to have in-depth contact and raise specific issues with partners who are looking to promote cooperation in training and developing human resources for chip design, investing in the semiconductor microchip and artificial intelligence (AI) sectors in Da Nang.

Currently, the city is building the Project "Developing semiconductor chips and microcircuits in Da Nang city" and specific mechanisms and policies to attract experts and investors to the city to work, research, cooperate in training human resources in semiconductor chips and AI, and build a more attractive investment environment for businesses in the semiconductor field.

At the same time, we commit to accompany and support investors in implementing projects, production and business activities in the city, aiming to share common values and benefits.

ARM is a company that specializes in providing chip architecture (IP) designs and is the leading chip design provider in most smartphones, said Mr. Stephen Ozoigbo, Director of ARM.

Arm's chip architecture licenses are sold to companies that make central processing units, or CPUs, which then collect royalties on each chip that uses their technology.

ARM's customers are some of the biggest names in technology and chips, including Apple, Nvidia, Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Samsung, Intel and TSMC...

Up to now, the company has established a very close cooperative relationship with Vietnam and has organized meetings and worked with central ministries and branches of Vietnam.

At the local level, ARM welcomes and supports Da Nang city in cooperating in training human resources and attracting investment in the fields of semiconductor design and artificial intelligence, especially in the context of the CHIPS Act being enacted, opening up many opportunities to access capital sources allocated for training in these fields.

He said this is a very suitable time for ARM Company and Da Nang City to strengthen cooperation. ARM Company is very interested ineducation and training in the public and private sectors and has designed online training programs for the field of microchip design.

The company wishes to expand its training network in Da Nang and plans to visit and work in the city on March 11 with the participation of VMO Company (ARM's partner in training) and ARM's customer system from Korea, Taiwan (China)...

In addition, VMO Company proposed to sign a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding between ARM Company, VMO Company and the Danang Center for Research, Training in Microchip Design and Artificial Intelligence to cooperate in implementing ARM platform training in Danang.

After the working session, the Center for Research and Training in Microchip Design and Artificial Intelligence in Da Nang will continue to work with ARM Company and VMO Company to sign the MOU, implement training programs in the near future and connect ARM Company to work with universities in Da Nang city.

The city commits to providing maximum support to the company to expand its branch in Da Nang, paying attention to supporting students to study ARM's programs with peace of mind and providing human resources of excellent students after training courses to ARM Company.
