On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army (December 22, 1944 - December 22, 2024), the 35th anniversary of National Defense Day (December 22, 1989 - December 22, 2024), demonstrating the tradition of "When drinking water, remember its source" and deeply expressing gratitude to the heroic martyrs (AHLS) who sacrificed for the Fatherland. On the afternoon of December 18, Comrade Mai Son - Acting Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and the delegation of Bac Giang province visited and offered incense to President Ho Chi Minh and the heroic martyrs in Ha Giang province. Accompanying them were Colonel Nguyen Quoc Toan - Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Director of the Provincial Police; representatives of leaders of a number of provincial departments and branches.

At the Vi Xuyen martyrs' cemetery, on behalf of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Fatherland Front Committee of the province, Acting Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Mai Son rang the bell nine times to commemorate the martyrs who lay here. Next, the delegation offered incense at the altar of President Ho Chi Minh, the altar of the martyrs and the altar of compatriots who died in the war. The delegation respectfully burned incense, expressing deep gratitude to more than 1,700 martyrs who are resting here. This is the place that marked the fierce battles in the war to protect the northern border (1979-1989). Thousands of soldiers of the Vietnam People's Army fought with intelligence, bravery, and resilience with the motto "not an inch to go, not a millimeter to leave", determined to hold firmly every hill, every cliff, every high point with the courageous spirit of "living on the rock to fight the enemy, dying to become immortal stone". More than 4,000 soldiers fought tenaciously and heroically sacrificed. More than 20 soldiers from Bac Giang are resting here.
Next, the delegation went to the 468 Peak, where the fiercest battles took place in the war to protect the northern border of the Fatherland. Here, the delegation burned incense at the altars of President Ho Chi Minh, General Vo Nguyen Giap, and the AHLS. The altars were set up in the middle of the mountains and forests, commemorating the soldiers who heroically sacrificed their lives.

In a solemn atmosphere, the provincial delegation respectfully offered flowers and incense to commemorate and express gratitude to the heroic martyrs who sacrificed their blood and bones for the Fatherland. The sacrifices of the heroic martyrs are a noble symbol of patriotism and the indomitable will of the Vietnamese people.
The Party Committee, government and people of all ethnic groups in Bac Giang province pledge to remember the heroic martyrs’ contributions, join hands and overcome difficulties, build and protect the socialist Vietnamese Fatherland. Continue to promote the revolutionary tradition, always unite to compete in labor, production and build the homeland to develop more and more./.
