Joining hands in social welfare work.

Through the implementation of the campaign "All people unite to build new rural areas and civilized urban areas," the Vietnam Fatherland Front at all levels in Ben Luc district, Long An province, has propagated and mobilized people to strictly abide by the Party's guidelines and policies, and the State's laws.

At the same time, to contribute to rapid and sustainable poverty reduction, the Fatherland Front at all levels in the district proactively coordinates with the government and mass organizations to propagate and mobilize the people to unite and help each other develop the economy , reduce poverty, and rise to prosperity through various forms such as providing capital and seeds; transferring science and technology; guiding the transformation of crop and livestock structures; providing targeted support to poor households;...

Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ben Luc District, Thai Van Quy, shared: “Through social welfare programs, the material and spiritual lives of the people have been increasingly improved and enhanced, and the percentage of poor and near-poor households has decreased significantly each year. This has created social consensus, contributing to the successful implementation of the local political , economic, cultural, social, national defense, and security tasks.”

According to Mr. Thai Van Quy, the campaign "All people unite to build new rural areas and civilized urban areas" has been effectively implemented, thereby promoting the positive spirit and consensus among the people. To date, 11 out of 14 communes in Ben Luc district have met the standards for new rural areas, including one commune that has achieved the advanced new rural area standard (Thanh Phu).

The district has completed the dossiers to request the Provincial People's Committee to recognize Tan Hoa commune as meeting the New Rural Area standards and My Yen commune as meeting the advanced New Rural Area standards. In 2024, the district strives to have two more communes meet the New Rural Area standards (Thanh Loi and Binh Duc) and one commune meet the advanced New Rural Area standards (Long Hiep) according to the roadmap and Resolution set forth by the District Party Committee. In 2025, the district aims to "reach the finish line" as a New Rural Area district.

Social welfare work is a top priority for My Yen commune, Ben Luc district.

My Yen commune (Ben Luc district) currently has 8 hamlets with 2,646 households and 10,846 permanent residents, and 7,539 temporary residents. Over the past period, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the commune and other organizations have closely and regularly coordinated to effectively implement the campaign "All people unite to build new rural areas and civilized urban areas".

Social welfare work has received special attention. Many effective models have been developed and implemented, such as supporting orphans, elderly people living alone, and people with disabilities in difficult circumstances. In 2023, the commune mobilized people and benefactors to donate 1,830 gifts worth over 679 million VND; the education promotion movement of the Fatherland Front and its member organizations, with the model of commending outstanding students, awarded 254 scholarships to outstanding students with a total of 55 million VND and scholarships to support 20 students in difficult circumstances with a total of 47 million VND.

Thanks to the concerted efforts of the government and the people in social welfare work, My Yen commune now has no poor households, only 16 near-poor households. It is expected that by the end of 2023, the commune will be recognized as achieving advanced new rural standards.

The Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of My Yen commune, Tran Thi To Quyen, said: “The Fatherland Front of the commune always mobilizes people to actively participate in the campaign “All people unite to build new rural areas and advanced urban areas”. The government and people in the commune always pay attention to social welfare work, especially mobilizing social resources to care for near-poor households, social welfare recipients, and those with difficult circumstances, determined to prevent the emergence of new poor households according to the criteria of advanced new rural areas.”

Building a more prosperous and civilized locality.

Over the years, under the leadership and guidance of the Party committees and government at all levels, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ward 1 (Kien Tuong town) has always promoted the spirit of solidarity and mobilized all strata of people to actively participate in the campaign "All people unite to build new rural areas and civilized urban areas".

Through the five contents of the campaign, linked to the criteria for building culturally exemplary families and neighborhoods, national target programs, job creation, poverty reduction, gratitude and social security, the quality of building culturally exemplary families and neighborhoods has improved. The movement to build culturally exemplary neighborhoods in the ward has received the support and participation of all segments of the population.

The main roads in Ward 1, Kien Tuong town, have been widened and paved, facilitating transportation and serving as a driving force for economic development.

For a long time, Ward 1 has been a "shining example" in implementing the campaign "All people unite to build new rural areas and civilized urban areas" in Kien Tuong town. Having achieved the civilized urban area standard in 2016, in recent years, the appearance of Ward 1 has improved significantly, the environment has become greener, cleaner, and more beautiful, and the lives of the people have been increasingly enhanced.

According to Huynh Thi Dam, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ward 1, the ward's Fatherland Front set targets at the beginning of the year. To date, 2,550 out of 2,550 households have registered as culturally exemplary families, achieving 100% of all three criteria; and all 5 neighborhoods have registered to maintain their status as culturally exemplary neighborhoods.

Over the past period, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the ward has implemented and replicated many good models that bring practical results, such as "Green, Clean, and Beautiful Streets"; "Garbage-Free Residential Areas"; "Listening to the People, Speaking to the People"; "Joining Hands to Protect the Environment for Community Health"; "A Special Topic Each Quarter";...

Over the years, residents in the ward have donated 16,466 square meters of land for road construction, equivalent to approximately 2.2 billion VND. This includes 16,043 square meters of agricultural land for the upgrading and expansion of the extended Thien Ho Duong road and 423 square meters of urban residential land for the Le Huu Nghia road project. “Socio-economic development goals related to people's lives, such as poverty reduction, showing gratitude, preventing and combating drug-related crimes and social evils, and environmental sanitation, are integrated and implemented widely throughout the community,” added Ms. Huynh Thi Dam.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Be Sau (Ward 1, Kien Tuong Town) shared: “I was born and raised here, so more than anyone else, I clearly see the development and prosperity of my homeland day by day. Since the campaign "All people unite to build new rural areas and civilized urban areas" was implemented.”

"The people have wholeheartedly worked with the government to implement policies effectively, resulting in the construction of many essential infrastructure projects serving people's lives, and an increasingly attractive urban landscape; roads have been paved and widened, facilitating travel and business. As a result, people's lives have improved significantly."

In addition, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ward 1 regularly mobilizes people to practice civilized customs in weddings and funerals, eradicate social evils and superstition, and build cultured families; coordinates with schools to visit families with children who have dropped out of school, investigate the reasons, and help them return to school; and encourages couples to practice family planning and not have a third child.

The implementation of the "All People Unite to Build New Rural Areas and Civilized Urban Areas" campaign in the province over the past period has yielded practical results in many aspects of social life, with the involvement of Party committees, government, the Fatherland Front, and all strata of the people, guided by the motto "The people know, the people discuss, the people do, the people inspect, the people supervise, and the people benefit." This has improved the quality of life for the people and contributed to the successful implementation of socio-economic development plans and the maintenance of national defense and security in the locality.
