Continuing the survey trip to grasp the situation of coastal seas and islands in 2025, on the afternoon of April 14, the working delegation of the Coast Guard Region 1 Command together with leaders of Quang Ninh, Thai Binh , Nam Dinh provinces and related agencies and units visited, worked, and presented gifts to agencies, units, households with difficult circumstances and students who have overcome difficulties to excel in their studies in Co To island district. Comrade Nguyen Hong Duong, Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee, was the head of the working delegation of Quang Ninh province.
In Co To island district, the delegation offered incense and flowers to President Ho Chi Minh at the special national relic site of President Ho Chi Minh Memorial Site on Co To island district and visited the Heroes and Martyrs at the Martyrs Cemetery of Co To island district.
The delegation also conducted a survey, grasped the situation of the sea area of Co To island and discussed with district leaders about the implementation of socio -economic development projects, ensuring national defense, security, order and safety at sea, developing the marine economy and preventing and combating IUU fishing.
In recent years, Co To island district has made great strides, worthy of its important and strategic position, firmly preserving the sacred sovereignty of the sea and islands of the Fatherland and becoming a "green island district", the Northeastern outpost of the Fatherland. Every year, Co To island district welcomes more than 300,000 tourists to the island and many domestic and foreign investors come to learn and wish to invest in Co To. The whole district currently has a total of nearly 400 fishing boats, of which 20 have a capacity of over 90CV.
On this occasion, the delegation presented over 100 gifts to agencies, units, households with difficult circumstances and students who have overcome difficulties to excel in their studies in the island district. In particular, the delegation of Quang Ninh province presented souvenirs to the island district and presented 20 gifts to households with difficult circumstances in the area.
On the same morning, the Working Group established working groups to approach fishing vessels to propagate regulations on preventing illegal and unreported fishing, and give gifts and national flags to fishermen working in the waters of Co To island district.
The actions of the Coast Guard officers and soldiers have practical significance, contributing to raising fishermen's awareness in complying with regulations on combating IUU fishing; at the same time, encouraging spirit, strengthening confidence, creating a support for fishermen to feel secure in fishing and developing the economy in the Co To sea area.
Also on April 14, the working delegations from Thai Binh, Quang Ninh and Nam Dinh provinces listened to Major General Tran Van Hau, Political Commissar of the Coast Guard Region 1 Command, inform about the current Vietnam Coast Guard force; the position and importance of the East Sea and our country's seas and islands, and updated information on the current situation in the East Sea.
