Concluding the first official day of competition at the 32nd SEA Games, the Vietnamese Sports Delegation won 6 gold medals, 10 silver medals, and 16 bronze medals, ranking 5th in the overall medal standings.

Concluding the first official day of competition at the 32nd SEA Games, the Vietnamese sports delegation has won a total of 6 gold medals.
The Karate team performed impressively, winning two gold medals in the men's and women's team Kata events.
Le Hong Phuc, Pham Minh Duc, and Giang Viet Anh won the gold medal in the men's team Kata event, while Nguyen Thi Phuong, Luu Thi Thu Uyen, and Nguyen Ngoc Tram won in the women's event.
Le Thi Hien "opened the gold medal tally" for Vovinam after brilliantly defeating her Laotian opponent Alisa Panyasyli 7-0 in the final.
The swimming team also won a gold medal thanks to Tran Hung Nguyen in the men's 200m individual medley.
Meanwhile, "Queen of Walking" Nguyen Thi Thanh Phuc continued her impressive performance, once again winning the gold medal in the women's 20km race walk. This is Thanh Phuc's fifth gold medal in six SEA Games appearances.
Also on May 6th, the pair Pham Thanh Phuong Thao and Ton Nu Hong An were officially awarded the Gold Medal in the Ouk Chaktrang Chess event.

In addition to the gold medals, the Vietnamese sports delegation also won 10 silver medals and 16 bronze medals.
With this achievement, the Vietnamese Sports Delegation ranked 5th on the overall medal table of the 32nd SEA Games.
Meanwhile, the host Cambodian sports delegation continued its successful run, winning an additional 12 gold medals on May 6th.
Thus, the Cambodian sports delegation has a total of 17 gold medals, 11 silver medals, and 11 bronze medals, firmly holding the top position in the overall medal standings.
The Indonesian sports delegation rose strongly to second place in the overall standings with 8 gold medals, 7 silver medals, and 11 bronze medals. The next two positions were held by Thailand (7, 10, 14) and the Philippines (7, 8, 13).
The Singapore team ranked 6th (5 gold medals, 2 silver medals and 3 bronze medals), followed by Myanmar (3, 1, 10), Laos (2, 2, 6), and Malaysia (1, 2, 7).
The Brunei and Timor Leste sports delegations are at the bottom of the overall medal table, having each won only one bronze medal.
