Mr. Vo Ta Nghia - Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of Ha Tinh informed that the province's main export items in recent times include: steel, steel billets, textile fibers of all kinds, textiles and garments, wood chips, tea... In which, steel and steel billets account for over 80% of the total export value of Ha Tinh's goods.
Through monitoring, it shows that Ha Tinh's export turnover in May 2025 alone reached about 184.38 million USD, an increase of about 6.14% compared to April 2025, but a decrease of 19.41% compared to the same period in 2024.
The province's cumulative export turnover in the first 5 months of 2025 reached about 605.6 million USD, down about 37.5% over the same period.
The reason for the decrease in Ha Tinh's export turnover compared to the same period in 2024 is mainly due to the decrease in export output of steel and steel billets of Formosa Ha Tinh Steel Corporation. In the context of escalating global trade tensions, Formosa has encountered many difficulties in finding consumption markets, so the export value of steel and steel billets has decreased sharply. Specifically, in the first 5 months of 2025, the export turnover of steel and steel billets reached about 510.49 million USD, down about 41.1% compared to the same period in 2024.
To overcome difficulties, Formosa Ha Tinh is looking for new markets. Agencies, departments and sectors in Ha Tinh continue to coordinate and accompany the company in the process of operating and expanding the project; support to remove difficulties, create favorable conditions for the company to operate effectively.
Not only steel, but other items such as tea, wood chips, etc. also recorded a decline in export output. Specifically, the export turnover of wood chips in the first 5 months of the year reached about 21.41 million USD, down about 25.58% compared to the same period in 2024; the export turnover of tea reached 1.07 million USD, down about 41.53% compared to the same period.

Mr. Tran Quoc Sy - Chief Accountant of Ha Tinh Tea Joint Stock Company said: “The company's export markets are mainly countries in Central Asia and South Asia such as Pakistan and Afghanistan. In the first months of the year, political instability and trade tensions in the world have affected the import activities of these countries. In addition, from February to April 2025, the factory's production was limited due to the harvest season not being right, leading to a decrease in export output compared to the same period in 2024. Currently, entering the peak harvest season, the company is focusing on directing 3 factories in the districts of Huong Son, Huong Khe, Ky Anh to increase tea tree care, harvesting and processing according to VietGap standards. At the same time, the company also focuses on investing in changing product designs according to the requirements of partners. The goal in 2025 is for the company to export about 2,300 tons of tea."
In the first months of the year, while steel, tea, and wood chips exported abroad decreased, Ha Tinh's "export picture" still recorded good growth rates in a number of products such as fibers, textile yarns of all kinds, textiles and garments. From this, it shows that adaptive policies in the context of production and business being affected by the global economic recession of fiber and garment enterprises in the area have been effective.

In the first 5 months of 2025, Ha Tinh's textile and garment export turnover reached about 20.92 million USD (an increase of about 121.38% over the same period in 2024); textile fiber export turnover reached about 4.92 million USD (an increase of about 88.51% over the same period in 2024).
According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Luan - import-export officer of Haivina Hong Linh Company Limited, the business's operations have been generally favorable in the first months of 2025. Currently, the company has signed orders until the end of 2025 and is making the most of its production capacity to export under contracts with partners. Haivina's main products are sports gloves and labor protection gloves (accounting for about 95% of the export product structure) with an output of 400,000 - 500,000 products/month. In addition to the main markets of the US, UK, France, and Spain, the company has also expanded to Asian countries such as China and Singapore.

In 2025, Ha Tinh will continue to implement policies to promote the export of competitive products, striving for an export turnover of over 2.5 billion USD.
To achieve this goal, the Department of Industry and Trade of Ha Tinh will continue to synchronously implement the province's resolutions on export activities, enhance the removal of difficulties for enterprises in absorbing support policies. Continue to accompany enterprises in trade promotion activities, connect markets, increase export products; promote customs clearance solutions, create maximum convenience for export enterprises.
For businesses participating in exports in the area, it is necessary to continue to build scientific production and business strategies, invest in technology in production, increase labor productivity, improve product quality to meet the strict standards of foreign partners, especially "difficult" markets..., and soon complete the province's export turnover target in 2025.
