Lang Ngua village, Chi Lang commune has 81 households with 397 people, the villagers mainly produce agriculture . Previously, Lang Ngua bridge (crossing Thuong river) was an iron bridge built in 1952. After many years of use, the bridge has seriously degraded, not ensuring safety. Cars cannot pass through the bridge, and pedestrians and motorbikes are always in a state of fear every time they cross, especially during the rainy season. Every year, when the river water rises, the bridge is often flooded, causing separation. Almost every year, people have to repair the bridge with materials such as wood, bamboo...
Mr. Trieu Lanh Van Bien, Party Cell Secretary, Head of Lang Ngua Village, shared: Due to the fact that the bridge is damaged and degraded, the villagers really want to invest in building a new bridge to serve the needs of travel and trade. Every year, at village meetings and meetings with voters, the villagers have repeatedly petitioned the government and relevant agencies to pay attention to investing in building Lang Ngua Bridge. By December 2024, the people's wishes were met, the bridge was started to be built under the motto "The State and the People work together", the villagers were very excited and together donated land and contributed money to build the bridge.
By September 2025, the project was handed over and put into use, meeting the travel needs of the people. Accordingly, Lang Ngua bridge is 30m long, 4m wide, including 5 spans, the total cost of building the bridge is over 2.4 billion VND. Of which, the State budget is nearly 2.1 billion VND, the rest is socialized capital (in which Lang Ngua villagers contributed 150 million VND).
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy, a resident of Lang Ngua village, said: Previously, Lang Ngua bridge was seriously degraded, making it difficult for villagers to travel, posing a potential safety risk. Therefore, when the commune promoted and mobilized, my family and other households in the village voluntarily contributed money and labor to join hands in building the bridge. Since the bridge was solidly built, everyone in the village has been excited, because the new bridge helps us travel easily, making it convenient for buying and selling goods, especially transporting agricultural products, traveling to take care of and harvesting custard apples.
It is known that the bridge put into use has met the needs of travel, agricultural production, and trade of goods of nearly 500 households in the village and some neighboring villages. Especially since the new bridge was built, students can go to school more safely and conveniently.
Mr. Hoang Minh Dung, Deputy Head of the Economic Department of Chi Lang Commune, said: The construction and operation of Lang Ngua Bridge has created favorable conditions to serve the travel and trade needs of local people, especially during the rainy season. This is also one of the essential infrastructure works that helps people feel secure in production and economic development. In the coming time, the department will continue to review the bridges showing signs of deterioration and the locations where bridges need to be built in the area to advise the Commune People's Committee to propose to all levels and sectors to consider allocating resources to invest in new construction or repair and upgrade, thereby contributing to the synchronous development of traffic infrastructure, actively contributing to promoting socio-economic development in the commune.
The completion and use of Ngua Village Bridge not only connects the two banks of the river but also creates conditions for local people to confidently develop their economy, stabilize their lives, and become a lever for local socio-economic development.
