Minh Vuong, Cong Phuong, Xuan Truong's football team changed its name

The football team of Minh Vuong, Cong Phuong, and Xuan Truong has been granted an exception by the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) to change its name for two consecutive years.

Today (August 1), the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) sent an official dispatch to Truong Tuoi Binh Phuoc Club, recognizing the change of the team's name and logo.

VFF said that after consideration, the executive committee approved the policy of exception to the rule for 2 consecutive years for Truong Tuoi Binh Phuoc Club to change its name and logo, according to the team's request on July 29.

Truong Tuoi Binh Phuoc Club will change its name to Truong Tuoi Dong Nai Club to participate in the domestic football tournament system from the 2025-2026 season.

VFF said that in case Truong Tuoi Dong Nai Club is qualified to participate in continental football tournaments, issues related to the club's name and logo must comply with the regulations and decisions of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) and the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA).

This name change is due to Binh Phuoc province merging into Dong Nai, so the Southeast football team also wants to change its name to match the new administrative boundaries.

Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee also assigned Dong Nai Club to Truong Tuoi Dong Nai Club to take over and merge into one team to compete in the 2025-2026 First Division.

For now, Truong Tuoi Dong Nai Club still registers to compete at Binh Phuoc Stadium in the 2025-2026 First Division.

If the procedures and renovations to Dong Nai Stadium are completed in time, Cong Phuong's team will move to the new stadium in the second leg of the tournament.

"We not only want to renovate the field but also renew the stands. Including building a new stand A to give Dong Nai Stadium a new, beautiful and professional look. Therefore, the renovation takes a lot of time. Moreover, the licensing procedure also takes time because it is public land," the club representative shared.

Preparing for the new season, Truong Tuoi Dong Nai Club has brought in 22 new names for both coaching and playing staff, in order to continue achieving the promotion goal.

Notable are head coach Nguyen Viet Thang and star players such as Minh Vuong, Xuan Truong (Hoang Anh Gia Lai), Tran Quang Thinh (Nam Dinh), Thanh Thao (HCMC), Ho Thanh Minh (PVF-CAND), Cao Tran Hoang Hung, Duong Van Khoa (Binh Dinh)...

Truong Tuoi Binh Phuoc FC won the runner-up position in the 2024-2025 First Division and a place in the play-off match for promotion. However, coach Huynh Quoc Anh's team lost to SHB Da Nang FC in the play-off match at Thong Nhat Stadium at the end of June.
