Football Road Trips Ltd, which promoted tours of Germany for EURO 2024, promised “a thrilling and unique football experience”. But it has announced it has gone bust due to soaring costs following the COVID-19 pandemic.
The company also announced that it “regrets” that it cannot fully take care of the fans’ trip, or at least refund them. Because only a few lucky people get refunds from the intermediary payment company.
Neil Fernie, who booked with two friends, said his experience was “absolutely awful” after the company promised some great holiday deals but mostly just lied.
Neil Fernie told STV News : “It sounded very appealing. A ticket to Scotland v Switzerland, a four-star hotel every night, a coach to pick us up, it all sounded fantastic.”
This fan claims that the company offered packages that included tickets to Scotland's group stage matches, but in reality they were only allowed to watch in the... fanzone.

Another fan said: “We’ve been sucked into the game, having to pay thousands of pounds. But it’s very difficult to contact them. It’s terrible. I don’t know what’s going on. The EUROs are one of the events I’ve been looking forward to for years.
While in Germany we received the good news that we got our money back but perhaps many others were not so lucky.”
The company's "abandoning" has left hundreds of Scottish fans stranded, not knowing where to go, as most of them still want to continue experiencing EURO 2024 even though their team was eliminated early.
