The family of Ms. Dinh Thi Thom (in Chua Bua hamlet, Binh Long commune, Vo Nhai) used to be a poor household for many years. In 2022, from the support of the National Target Program on Socio-Economic Development for Ethnic Minorities and Mountainous Areas, her family was given a breeding cow. She also participated in a training course on livestock farming techniques organized by the district.
Thanks to actively learning and applying the right techniques, from one initial cow, Mrs. Thom's family has developed a herd of four cows, and escaped poverty in 2024.
Mrs. Thom shared: Thanks to the State's attention, my family has the opportunity to escape poverty. Now I know how to take care of breeding cows and grow grass for food, so I can proactively develop livestock farming.
In Nac hamlet, Lien Minh commune, from the capital source of the National Target Program, the locality invested in building two spillways across Da Mai stream and Bua stream, solidifying 700m of main road and centralized domestic water works. Thanks to that, people's lives have been significantly improved.
Mr. Trieu Van Luu, a resident of Nac hamlet, said: Without the support of the State, we do not know when the hamlet will have concrete roads and clean water to every household like it does now. To speed up the progress, we, the people, have volunteered to donate more than 2,000 square meters of land, dismantle fences, cut down trees, and quickly clear the construction site.
From 2021 to present, Vo Nhai district has implemented 10 projects, 11 sub-projects and many component policies, focusing on investing in essential infrastructure to serve production and daily life for ethnic minority areas.
The district has 43 rural roads, irrigation canals, markets, medical stations, schools, cultural houses, and sports fields under construction. 100% of the projects have been and are being implemented on schedule, bringing positive effects to people's lives.
Along with infrastructure investment, the district focuses on vocational training associated with practical needs. From 2021 to present, the district has coordinated to organize 41 vocational training classes such as: Livestock and poultry farming, agricultural machinery repair, safe vegetable growing, industrial sewing, veterinary medicine use... for 1,202 rural workers.
100% of trainees receive vocational certificates, over 90% of trainees after training have stable jobs or effectively apply knowledge to production and business, contributing to increasing income.

School facilities and medical stations are well-invested, creating favorable conditions for teaching, learning and taking care of people's health.
Ms. Vu Thi Hue, Permanent Vice Chairwoman of Vo Nhai District People's Committee, said: With 70% of the population being ethnic minorities, in the past 5 years, the effective implementation of ethnic programs, projects and policies has created clear changes in all aspects, especially improving the lives and awareness of ethnic minorities.
In the coming time, the district will continue to promote propaganda and raise awareness of socio-economic development in ethnic minority areas, focusing on vocational training and livelihood development in accordance with local advantages.
Along with that, the district will urge and strengthen the responsibility of units participating in project implementation, ensuring that investment capital is used for the right purposes, contributing to the development of increasingly sustainable ethnic minority areas.
