Ly Hai vs Thai Hoa
"Flip Side 7" is Ly Hai's highest-grossing movie to date.
At the recent Asian Film Festival - Da Nang, "Flip Side 7" won the "Outstanding Vietnamese Film" award from the NETPAC Film Development Network and "Outstanding Cast".
The second award is a new category, added this season.
Currently, Lat Mat 7 has earned more than 482 billion VND (according to Box Office Vietnam). This is also the second most popular Vietnamese work in the first half of 2024 after Tran Thanh's Mai film.
After “Flip Side 7”, Ly Hai also said that he is working on “Flip Side 8”, which is expected to be released in 2025. As usual, Ly Hai’s “Flip Side” films are all released on the occasion of April 30 and May 1.
Thus, Ly Hai's opponent is likely to be Thai Hoa. Because he appeared in the movie "Tunnel: Sun in the Dark" directed by Bui Thac Chuyen. Actor Thai Hoa transformed into the male lead character Bay Theo.
“Tunnel: Sun in the Dark” directed by Bui Thac Chuyen is a film project celebrating the 50th anniversary of national reunification. The film is scheduled to premiere on April 30, 2025.
Previously, the film crew revealed the first images and video clips filled with bombs and bullets of the raid that the soldiers of the National Liberation Front of South Vietnam had to face in the battle to maintain the important position.
In the first image of the film, the character Bay Theo, played by Thai Hoa, holds a gun, sweating in a narrow tunnel.
The two big screen stars facing each other makes the audience very excited.
Tran Thanh and Thu Trang
After 2 years of dominating the Tet movie season with the total revenue of Mrs. Nu's House and Mai reaching about 1,000 billion VND, director Tran Thanh has just officially started filming the 2025 Tet movie project called "The Four Guardians" to be released in theaters on Tet 2025.
On his Fanpage with more than 18 million followers, Tran Thanh posted a series of photos on the opening day of filming and called for support from the audience. "May the ancestors bless me with smooth filming so that everyone can have a good movie to watch this Tet holiday," he wrote.
Although he has only entered the film industry as a director and producer for a few years, Tran Thanh has continuously had many notable projects. The three films Bo Gia, Nha Ba Nu and Mai have just been released in theaters and have continuously broken records for audience attendance and revenue, holding 3/4 of the top positions in the top most popular films in Vietnamese theaters with a total revenue of more than 1,500 billion VND.
“Mai” – the movie released on Tet 2024 directed by Tran Thanh – is the highest-grossing movie of all time in Vietnam with 530 billion VND.
Competing with Tran Thanh's film is "The Wish", produced by V Pictures and Thu Trang Entertainment.
With the orientation of producing films with Vietnamese cultural elements, V Pictures chose to exploit the story of family affection and Tet culture in "The Wishful Ride".
The film revolves around the last bus leaving Saigon on the night of the 30th of Tet. Two strange girls with different personalities and families suddenly encounter an incident, causing them to fall into a funny and sad Tet holiday.
Thus, the four names announcing new films are all box office stars of the Vietnamese big screen. Many audiences predict that the 2025 film race will be exciting and fiercely competitive.
