Attacking midfielder Aiman Afif suffered an injury after the friendly match between the Malaysia U23 team and the Qatar U23 team. He is an important player for the Southeast Asian team. He can play well as a forward and has made nearly 20 appearances for the Malaysia U23 team.
Aiman Afif, born in 2001, currently plays for Kedah Darul Aman FC. He was once considered a prodigy of Malaysian football when he started playing professionally at the age of 19.
" It's a bit unfortunate that Aiman Afif has suffered an injury. We need to assess the extent of his injury. Several other players are also in the process of recovering ," said head coach Juan Torres Garrido.

In their recent friendly match, the Malaysian U23 team suffered a 0-1 defeat against Qatar U23. Ahmed Husham scored from a penalty kick at the end of the first half. This was one of two friendly matches for coach Juan Torres Garrido's team ahead of the 2024 AFC U23 Asian Championship. Prior to this, they also lost 1-2 to the Chinese U23 team.
Coach Juan Torres Garrido believes that friendly matches like the one against Qatar are very beneficial for the Malaysian U23 team. The team can learn how to adapt when facing fast and strong opponents.
" We faced some difficulties in the first half due to the opponent's pace of play. However, the whole team gradually took control of the game in the second half as we adapted better ," said Garrido.
