After being taken to a hospital in Sichuan (China) for injury examination, doctors announced that midfielder Nguyen Van Truong of U22 Vietnam had a partial anterior cruciate ligament tear in his knee.

The Hanoi FC player said that doctors told him that he only needs to practice recovery, not undergo surgery. Van Truong and his teammates will return from China and be re-examined. He will not recover from his injury in time to participate in the 33rd SEA Games, which will take place in early December.

Van Truong suffered a serious injury.

Previously, in the final match of the 2025 Panda Cup international friendly match between U22 Vietnam and U22 Korea, in the 70th minute, Nguyen Van Truong had a strong collision with an opposing player and landed badly. He appeared to be in great pain and had to leave the field on a stretcher, leaving U22 Vietnam playing with only 10 players on the field because coach Dinh Hong Vinh used all the substitutions.

Immediately after the match, Van Truong was taken to the hospital by the U22 Vietnam medical team to check his injury. On the afternoon of November 19, the player born in 2003 and his teammates returned home.

As planned, after a few days of rest, U22 Vietnam will gather again in Ba Ria Vung Tau before going to Thailand on December 2 to officially enter the SEA Games 33 campaign.
