Among them, Theerathon Bunmathan was the captain of the Thai team that won the AFF Cup 2022. This player himself also directly scored against the Vietnamese team in the second leg of the final at Thammasat Stadium in Pathum Thani that year. Center-back Pansa Hemviboon was a mainstay of the Thai team in the AFF Cup 2024 final, he was the one who scored an own goal, helping the Vietnamese team equalize 2-2 in the second leg of the final at Rajamangala Stadium in Bangkok.

Suphanat Mueanta is in the group of second best scorers of AFF Cup 2024, equal to Nguyen Tien Linh, Patrick Gustavsson of Thailand and Shawal Anuar of Singapore (each scored 4 goals). Suphanat Mueanta's scoring record is only behind that of top scorer Nguyen Xuan Son (7 goals).

These 3 players are expected to be the pillars of Buriram United Club, preparing to face Hanoi Police Club (CAHN) in the final of the 2024-2025 Southeast Asian Cup C1. The first leg of the final will take place on May 14 in Hanoi, and the second leg of the final will take place on May 21.

Chanathip Songkrasin returns to the Thai national team

Theerathon Bunmathan, Pansa Hemviboon and Suphanat Mueanta were not called up to the Thai national team, but several other bright stars from Burirram United were called up by coach Masatada Ishii. These include full-back Sasalak Haiprakhon, defensive midfielder Phitiwat Sukjitthammakul and striker Supachai Chaided. These are all players that CAHN FC need to keep a close eye on ahead of the final of the Southeast Asian Cup 1.

As for the Thai team, coach Masatada Ishii's team has the return of "Thai Messi" Chanathip Songkrasin and the tall Italian-born center-back Marco Ballini (2m tall). The attacking midfielder who caused controversy at the 2024 AFF Cup, Supachok Sarachat, and the star currently playing in Japan, Ekanit Panya, are both present.

The Thai team will play a friendly match with India on June 4. Then, on June 10, coach Masatada Ishii's team will face Turkmenistan in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers. Like the Vietnamese team in Group F, Thailand wants to win a ticket in Group D to the final round of the Asian Championship in 2 years.
