Determine the 16 teams in the round of 16
Indonesia became the last team to advance from the group stage after Oman dropped a regrettable victory against Kyrgyzstan in a "life-or-death" match.
Oman had a big advantage to go through thanks to Muhsen Al Ghassani's goal in the 8th minute but let Joel Kojo score to seal the result 1-1 for Kyrgyzstan at the end of the match.
The result was enough for Oman and Kyrgyzstan to see Indonesia become the last team to advance straight to the knockout round as one of the four best third-placed teams.
This is also the first time in history that Indonesia has participated in the knockout round after 4 times participating and stopping in the group stage.
Thus, Indonesia and Thailand are the two Southeast Asian representatives participating in the knockout round of the 2023 Asian Cup, while Malaysia and Vietnam are eliminated.
The Vietnamese team is one of three teams that did not win any points at the tournament in Qatar, along with India and Hong Kong (China).
Before Indonesia, Bahrain also won the 15th ticket after a 1-0 victory over Jordan in the final match of Group E thanks to a goal by Abdulla Yusuf.
The win even pushed Bahrain to the top spot on a day when neither South Korea nor Jordan seemed to want the spot.
South Korea drew 3-3 with Malaysia and won second place in the group, while Jordan fell from the leading position to third place in Group F.
Thus, the 16 teams participating in the round of 16 include Qatar, Tajikistan (group A), Australia, Uzbekistan, Syria (group B), Iran, UAE, Palestine (group C), Iraq, Japan, Indonesia (group D), Bahrain, South Korea, Jordan (group E), Saudi Arabia and Thailand (group F).

The defending champions put their best foot forward with a 3-0 win over Lebanon on the opening day, before beating Tajikistan and China 1-0.
Asia's number 1 team, Japan, surprisingly had an easy time when their opponent was only Bahrain, the team that beat Jordan and South Korea to take the top spot in Group E.
The Iranian team is also expected not to face too many difficulties when the opponent is only Syria. The remaining match will be a competition between UAE and Tajikistan.
