The two excellent students who won Gold Medals were: Than The Cong and Truong Phi Hung, both 12th graders, Bac Giang High School for the Gifted, Bac Giang Province. The three Silver Medals went to: Nguyen Nhat Minh, 12th grader, High School for the Gifted in Natural Sciences, University of Natural Sciences, Vietnam National University, Hanoi; Ha Duyen Phuc, 12th grader, Lam Son High School for the Gifted, Thanh Hoa Province and Nguyen Thanh Duy, 12th grader, Tran Phu High School for the Gifted, Hai Phong City.
The 54th International Physics Olympiad will be held in Iran from July 21 to 29. According to the regulations of the IPhO 2024 Council, the exam will consist of 1 theoretical exam and 1 experimental exam. Each exam lasts 5 hours.
This year’s exam is considered interesting and difficult, the content of both theory and practice are closely related to real life; at the same time, it touches on the applications of modern science and technology. To achieve the Gold Medal, candidates must be in the top 8% of candidates with the highest scores.
With 100% of students winning medals, including 2 Gold Medals and 3 Silver Medals, the Vietnamese delegation is among the countries with the highest results at the 2024 International Physics Olympiad.
The results in 2024 are also better than in 2023 (last year the Vietnamese team won 2 Gold Medals, 2 Silver Medals and 1 Bronze Medal). This year, the practical exam scores of Vietnamese students have improved significantly compared to the AphO and IPhO exams in recent years.
The excellent achievements of the Vietnamese national team at IPhO 2024 continue to affirm the quality of general education and the right direction in the work of discovering, selecting and nurturing excellent students of the Ministry of Education and Training .
