Survey on medical capacity to serve APEC 2027 Conference

Kinhtedothi - On the afternoon of November 28, the working delegation of the Department of Medical Examination and Treatment Management, Ministry of Health led by Dr. Ha Anh Duc - Vice Chairman of the National Medical Council, Director of the Department of Medical Examination and Treatment Management surveyed the actual medical conditions in Phu Quoc, worked with the Department of Health of An Giang province and related units on the Plan to ensure medical work for APEC 2027.

The survey aims to proactively prepare and ensure adequate conditions for human resources, medical equipment, and facilities in ensuring health care for the APEC 2027 Conference scheduled to be held in Phu Quoc Special Zone, An Giang province.

According to the report of An Giang Department of Health, the current Phu Quoc health system includes Phu Quoc Medical Center (TTYT), Vinmec Phu Quoc International General Hospital and the Sun Serenia Phu Quoc Hospital project which is in the completion stage. Regarding the capacity to organize emergency care outside the hospital, Phu Quoc Medical Center currently has 4 ambulances from the Ministry of Health 's Emergency Care Project, fully equipped with emergency resuscitation machinery, equipment and supplies. The goal is to reach the scene in under 10 minutes; 2 courses have been trained (emergency care outside the hospital, cardiopulmonary resuscitation) for 42 medical staff.

Vinmec Phu Quoc International General Hospital has 2 international standard ambulances and is provided with 6 more ambulances from the Ministry of Health's External Emergency Project. The hospital is capable of domestic and international emergency transportation by ambulance or medical aircraft or helicopter. This is also an international general hospital, providing basic and specialized professional services, meeting international standards. The Emergency Department performs examination, intensive resuscitation, transportation, and is capable of performing advanced techniques such as emergency thrombolysis, vascular intervention, hypothermia, and continuous blood filtration.

The working group surveyed the departments: Examination, Emergency, Intensive Care, Paraclinical, inpatient treatment area... of Phu Quoc Medical Center and Sungroup Phu Quoc Group's Sun Hospital Project as well as discussed the contents of ensuring emergency work, food safety and disease prevention.

In his speech, Dr. Ha Anh Duc requested the People's Committee of An Giang province, the Department of Health of An Giang province, the Department of Health of Ho Chi Minh City, and Military Hospital 175 to coordinate with the Department of Medical Examination and Treatment Management to develop plans and solutions to ensure medical work to serve activities and events within the framework of the APEC 2027 Conference. These include plans for internal medicine and surgery, stroke, mass cardiovascular emergencies, and other arising situations....; calculate plans for geographical distances so that medical work is always proactive, ready, and responsive. Dr. Ha Anh Duc also requested the Department of Food Safety of Ho Chi Minh City to develop a plan to support food safety during the APEC 2027 Conference.
