Accompanying and supporting people to stabilize their lives after floods

On November 22, after the floodwaters receded, the southern localities of Khanh Hoa province mobilized forces and means to urgently support people and educational institutions in the flood-affected areas to clean up their houses and schools; repair flooded vehicles and household appliances. At the same time, they mobilized and donated food to help people reduce difficulties and stabilize their lives soon after the flood.

On the evening of November 21, the floodwater gradually receded, and the residential area along the Dinh River in Residential Group 18 (Dong Hai Ward) appeared clearly with mud-covered houses, muddy and damaged roads, collapsed fences, and crushed vegetable gardens. According to Mr. Huynh Van Chi - Party Cell Secretary, Head of Residential Group 18, at noon on November 20, the floodwater in the residential area rose, reaching a depth of more than 1.6m. After 1 day and 1 night of being submerged in floodwater, by the afternoon of November 21, the floodwater began to recede. After the water receded, on the morning of November 22, the functional forces of Dong Hai Ward and students of Khanh Hoa College of Technology - Energy supported more than 40 households of the residential group to clean up their houses and roads to stabilize their lives. Due to heavy rain, the floodwaters were deeper and longer than the flood on November 17, causing damage to many households, apple and vegetable gardens, and causing significant damage to people's property.

On November 22, the functional forces of Dong Hai ward also organized environmental cleaning after the flood at Binh Son Sea Park and several other residential groups in the ward.

At Phuoc Khanh Primary School (Ninh Phuoc Commune), on the morning of November 22, more than 100 cadres, soldiers, union members, youth and students supported the school in cleaning up after the flood. According to Ms. Bui Thi Nu - Principal of the school, in recent days, prolonged rain and floods caused deep flooding in the school yard, hallways and all ground floor classrooms of the school. Immediately after the flood receded, cadres and soldiers of the Mobile Police Department, Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department (Provincial Police), Ninh Phuoc Commune Police, militia and self-defense forces, Ninh Phuoc Commune Youth Union, some students of Tran Thi Secondary School and all cadres, teachers and staff of the school urgently cleaned up mud, cleaned desks and chairs, and cleaned the school grounds, ensuring conditions for students to go to school safely after the flood.

Free supplies and home appliance repairs

To support people in flooded areas and functional forces, on November 22, many zero-dong kitchens in Phan Rang, Dong Hai, and Ninh Chu wards were still on fire. Of which, the zero-dong kitchen at Vanh Khuyen Kindergarten (Dong Hai ward) cooked 1,400 meals to give to officers and soldiers of the Provincial Military Command and people in the communes and wards of Dong Hai, Do Vinh, Phuoc Dinh, Ninh Phuoc, and Phuoc Hau; the zero-dong kitchen at Son Ca Kindergarten (Phan Rang ward) was run by officers and teachers of the school and 16/4 Kindergarten, cooking 590 meals to give to people in flooded areas of Ninh Phuoc and Phuoc Hau communes.

Ms. Dau Thi Lam - Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Do Vinh Ward said: “During the flood, the entire political system of Do Vinh Ward mobilized human resources, resources, and the generosity of benefactors to support people in vulnerable and flooded areas. As of the morning of November 22, the entire ward has mobilized and supported more than 18,900 packages with necessities such as instant noodles, drinking water, meals, and some other foods, helping people to soon stabilize their lives after the natural disaster.”

In addition, on November 22, Khanh Hoa College of Technology and Energy mobilized more than 20 lecturers and 80 students to help people in vulnerable and flooded areas in the communes and wards of Dong Hai, Phan Rang, and Ninh Phuoc. According to Mr. Nguyen Phan Anh Quoc - Principal of the school, on the first day of the campaign, the group of lecturers and students of the school supported local people in cleaning up their houses and roads, and repaired more than 100 flooded household electrical appliances for free, including water pumps, washing machines, refrigerators and some motorbikes. On November 23, the lecturers and students of the school continued to support flooded households in the above localities and Phuoc Hau commune. This activity will be maintained by the school until local people no longer need it. Each repaired item not only restores an asset, but also ignites confidence, helping people to soon stabilize their lives after the flood.
