“Passion Fruit Plus – Diversifying Passion Fruit Products” is the project that won the special prize in this year's competition. A group of students from Tien Giang University implemented the Passion Fruit Plus project with the goal of creating gummy candies from fresh passion fruit and organic chia seeds. The group pursues the trend of “Smart Snacking – Green Living” to meet the demand for healthy consumption. The project demonstrates the students' aspiration for innovation and creativity and their desire to elevate the value of Vietnamese agricultural products.

According to Bui Khanh Hau, a member of the project, Passion Fruit Plus uses natural passion fruit rich in vitamin C, fiber, and antioxidants to create a nutritional foundation for the product. The team combines plant-based pectin, a small amount of gelatin, and organic chia seeds to create a chewy texture and a unique flavor. The product meets the needs of flexible vegetarians, those trying to lose weight, children, and the elderly.

The Passion Fruit Plus project aims to change snacking habits by offering low-sugar, nutritious, and traceable options. The project affirms its growth potential, given the limited number of quality products currently available in the healthy gummy candy market. The project team hopes to make Passion Fruit Plus a new representative of the green snacking trend and contribute to elevating the status of Vietnamese agricultural products.

The project "Sound - Turning Gestures into Words - A Bridge of Love" won first prize in the competition.

The Sound Team from the Faculty of Engineering, Technology and Economics -Law of Tien Giang University participated in the competition with their project "Sound - Turning Gestures into Words - A Bridge of Love" and won first prize. The project has a high humanitarian value, focusing on the deaf community.

The team members have applied technology to convert sign language into sound and speech in real time, helping the hearing impaired communicate more easily in their studies, work, and daily lives. The product not only helps break down communication barriers but also opens bridges of love, promoting inclusion, understanding, and respect among different groups in society.

Le Thi Huynh Mai, a member of this project team, said: “The team has always believed that technology is only truly meaningful when it touches people and solves social problems. The project aims to support the deaf community, helping them to be more confident when stepping out into the world and asserting themselves.”

According to the competition organizers, the startup projects of the university's students met the set criteria, including: novelty, creativity, and unique value of the idea; sustainability of the product or service; feasibility and competitiveness of the idea/project; understanding of the market and market expansion plan; expertise, application of science, technology and engineering; socio-economic effectiveness and practical application.

The "Student Entrepreneurship and Innovation" competition was first held in 2012, under the name "Starting a Business with Students," organized by the Faculty of Economics and Law of the university. Due to the success of the competition, in 2017, the Tien Giang University Student Union, in collaboration with the university's faculties, organized the competition on a university-wide scale, with the participation of a large number of students.

The purpose of the "Creative Student Entrepreneurship" competition is to provide opportunities for students to interact and learn from the successful entrepreneurial experiences of established businesses both within and outside the province. At the same time, the school recognizes and promotes the practical application of successful and highly feasible startup models and projects.

Associate Professor, Dr. Vo Ngoc Ha, Rector of Tien Giang University, said that participating in this year's competition, the students demonstrated outstanding effort and creativity through highly feasible startup ideas, applying new scientific and technological advancements and, especially, focusing on social issues that need to be solved. This is the clearest evidence of their ability to combine theoretical knowledge and practical skills that they have accumulated throughout their studies at the university.

Through this competition, participating students also have the opportunity to connect with businesses relevant to their field of study, creating opportunities for students to orient their careers after graduation. The school hopes that after each "Student Entrepreneurship and Innovation" competition, the startup ideas and projects of students will continue to receive attention and support from agencies and businesses to realize their ideas and apply them in practice.
