“Drones fly at an altitude of hundreds of meters, creating a coverage area with a radius of 6 km, can reach flooded areas, landslides or mountainous terrain in conditions where roads are isolated and broadcasting vehicles cannot reach, ensuring smooth communication for search and rescue and people in this area,” said a representative of Viettel Corporation.

Viettel also mobilized hundreds of information rescue teams to support stations and cable lines; handle fixed broadband subscriber incidents and repair generators to support provinces affected by natural disasters; and reserve information rescue materials to be ready in all situations.
A representative of Viettel Telecom said that the network has just completed adding money to the accounts of 31,000 customers in areas isolated by floods in Nghe An . Accordingly, each customer will be given 20,000 VND in their account to call, text and access data to maintain contact during emergencies.
Previously, Viettel Telecom quickly implemented policies to support nearly 4 million customers in areas predicted to be affected by Typhoon Wipha. The policies include: Promotional card top-up with 20% data usage fee, delaying fee blocking and cutting, introducing suitable preferential packages to help customers maintain communication connections during the typhoon.
"We will continue to review and promptly issue appropriate customer care and support policies to accompany people in disaster areas," a Viettel Telecom representative affirmed.
Due to the impact of storm Wipha, widespread heavy rain and rising floodwaters caused thousands of houses in communes on the border of Nghe An to be deeply flooded and traffic cut off.
Under the direction of the Ministry of Science and Technology , since July 23, Viettel Network Corporation has opened roaming, connecting telecommunications waves so that users of all networks can communicate via Viettel waves in isolated areas. Specifically, Viettel has opened roaming in 16 communes in the Nghe An border area, on July 24, it continued to add 11 more communes, bringing the total number of communes roaming into the Viettel network to 27, ensuring that mobile subscribers in these areas basically maintain operations, meeting communication needs for rescue work.
Before the storm, Viettel had prepared backup plans for batteries and generators to operate the station in conditions affected by natural disasters. Viettel mobilized 100 additional stations and cable line information rescue teams; 150 fixed broadband subscriber incident handling teams and 30 generator repair teams to support provinces affected by the storm and its circulation. Information rescue supplies in the provinces all had a high reserve rate. Viettel was ready to expand the mobile wave connection area in areas that continued to be affected by storms and floods, supporting people to maintain communication.
