Latest forecast of affected areas of storm No. 1

According to the meteorological agency, storm No. 1 will strengthen to level 10 in the next 24 hours; then change direction to enter the southwestern region of Guangdong province (China).

Updated from the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, at 1:00 p.m. on June 12, the center of storm No. 1 was located at approximately 17.2 degrees north latitude; 110.1 degrees east longitude, in the area west of the Hoang Sa archipelago. The strongest wind near the center of the storm is level 9 (75 - 88 km/h), gusting to level 11. The storm is moving west-northwest at a speed of 5 - 10 km/h.

It is forecasted that in the next 24 hours, the storm will move northwest at about 10km per hour. At 1pm on June 13, the center of the storm will be at about 18.9 degrees north latitude; 108.8 degrees east longitude, in the southwest area of ​​Hainan Island (China).

The strongest wind is level 10, gusting to level 13. The dangerous area in the East Sea is between 15.5 and 20.5 degrees north latitude; 107 and 111.5 degrees east longitude. Level 3 natural disaster risk affects the western part of the northern East Sea (including the Hoang Sa archipelago), offshore waters from Quang Tri to Quang Ngai and the Gulf of Tonkin.

It is forecasted that in the next 48 hours, the storm will change direction to move north, then north-northeast, at a speed of 10 - 15 km/h. At 13:00 on June 14, the center of the storm will be at about 21.5 degrees north latitude; 110 degrees east longitude, in the southwest area of ​​Guangdong province (China).

The strongest wind is level 8, gusting to level 10. The dangerous area is north of latitude 17 degrees north and from 107.5 to 112.5 degrees east. Level 3 natural disaster risk affects the northwest of the northern East Sea, offshore waters from Quang Tri to Hue and the Gulf of Tonkin.

It is forecasted that in the next 72 hours, the storm will move northeast at a speed of 20-25km/h and gradually weaken into a low pressure area over southern China. At 1:00 p.m. on June 15, the center of the low pressure area will be at about 25.1 degrees north latitude; 113.7 degrees east longitude; intensity below level 6.

Regarding the impact of the storm at sea, the western part of the northern East Sea (including the waters of the Hoang Sa archipelago), the offshore waters from Quang Tri to Quang Ngai have strong winds of level 6 - 8, near the storm center level 9 - 10, gusting to level 13; waves 3 - 5m high, near the storm center 4 - 6m; very rough seas.

The Gulf of Tonkin has strong winds of level 6-7, near the storm center of level 8-9, gusting to level 11; waves 2-4m high; very rough seas. Ships operating in the above dangerous areas are highly likely to be affected by thunderstorms, tornadoes, strong gusts and big waves.

In coastal areas, due to the influence of high tides combined with storm surges, provinces from Hai Phong to Nghe An are likely to experience unusually high sea levels: Hon Dau 3.9m, Hon Ngu 2.8m. Flooding may occur in some low-lying coastal areas and river mouths between 5pm and 7pm on June 12 and 13.

On land, from the evening of June 12 to June 13, the area from Ha Tinh to Thua Thien Hue will have heavy to very heavy rain with common rainfall from 100 - 180mm, in some places over 350mm.

In the evening and night of June 12, the area from Da Nang to Quang Ngai and southern Nghe An will have moderate rain, heavy rain, locally very heavy rain and thunderstorms with rainfall ranging from 40 - 90mm, some places over 150mm. The northern Central Highlands and Binh Dinh will have moderate rain, locally heavy rain with rainfall ranging from 15 - 30mm, some places over 50mm.
