Tourist dies while jumping from Macau Tower

Hong Kong news site HK01 reported that the man felt short of breath after completing the 233-meter jump at around 4:30 p.m. on Monday (local time).

The man had no apparent injuries on his body. He was later taken to Conde S Januario Hospital after he stopped breathing. He was later pronounced dead.

The popular attraction at Macau Tower is operated by AJ Hackett's Skypark. The Skypark website promotes the facility as the world's highest commercial bungee jumping site.

The cost per jump is $359 per participant.

Alongside bungee jumping, other activities run by AJ Hackett include the Skywalk experience on the platform surrounding the tower as well as climbing to the top of the tower's mast at 338m.

On its website, Skypark states that prospective participants should disclose their relevant medical conditions, including high blood pressure, epilepsy, neurological conditions, asthma and physical disabilities.

According to the activity's listing on Klook, a travel and services booking platform, participants must sign a liability waiver form to inform them of the risks of the adventure activity. If the participant is a minor, a parent or legal guardian must sign the waiver form on their behalf.

This activity is also not recommended for people with certain medical conditions such as high blood pressure or epilepsy.
