Wedding tourism: A product with great potential

In the trend of diversifying tourism products, Khanh Hoa is looking to develop wedding tourism. In 2023, many famous couples in the country chose resorts in Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa as the place to hold their wedding parties. However, there is still much to do to develop wedding tourism, especially having direct flights from potential markets.

In early November 2023, the couple Puka and Gin Tuan Kiet held their wedding ceremony at Alma resort (Bai Dai area, Cam Lam district). The wedding of the young artist couple attracted nearly 200 guests to this 5-star resort. Previously, in July, John Pham (Miss Jennifer Pham's younger brother) returned to Vietnam from the US to hold a wedding party at a luxury resort on the coast of Nha Trang. More than 80 wedding guests from many countries around the world had a week of vacation and sightseeing in the land of Agarwood.

Then, in 2012, beauty Phan Thi Ly (top 5 Miss World Vietnam 2010) held a romantic wedding at the poetic Evason Ana Mandara resort in Nha Trang. Many international tourists also hold small wedding parties and engagement parties on the beach in Nha Trang. The exploitation of wedding tourism has tended to be promoted more recently. "Since the beginning of the year, nearly 20 weddings have been held at Alma resort. Besides celebrities, there are also international tourists, overseas Vietnamese... Normally, to organize wedding parties for guests, we provide the location, cuisine, and the decoration and ideas will be coordinated with another unit", Ms. Vu Thi Huong Giang - Accommodation Manager of Alma Resort shared. Similarly, representatives of The Anam Cam Ranh, Ana Mandara Cam Ranh... also said that since the beginning of the year, these resorts have organized many wedding parties for domestic and foreign tourists, including the wedding of tiktoker Linda Ngo and Phong Dat in March 2023 at The Anam Cam Ranh.

According to Mr. Vo Quang Hoang - Chairman of Khanh Hoa Hotel Association, wedding tourism is a very new field in the tourism industry, but when it is done, it will create more opportunities to promote and attract tourists, especially international tourists. In the past 5 years, many Asian countries, especially Southeast Asia, have chosen wedding tourism as a strategy to attract tourists, especially Indian tourists (famous for luxurious and lavish weddings). With beautiful resorts in Ninh Van, Bai Dai area and Vinpearl Nha Trang (Hon Tre island) ... Khanh Hoa tourism can develop wedding tourism products and services. Mr. Le Dai Hai - General Manager of Ana Mandara Cam Ranh also said that with in-depth services, private beaches, high-quality human resources, high-class resorts in Khanh Hoa are capable of organizing large wedding parties for international tourists.

Wedding tourism is a potential product, but there is still much to do to exploit it, especially in terms of promotion and solving the bottleneck of flight routes. According to information from the Department of Tourism, in 2023, a delegation of Indian tourism businesses surveyed wedding services at Champa Island tourist area, Vinpearl Nha Trang and resorts in Bai Dai area... However, due to the lack of direct flights from India to Khanh Hoa, large wedding parties have not yet been organized like Phu Quoc and Da Nang have done. Currently, some resorts in Bai Dai area are promoting marketing in the Korean tourist market to promote the destination, aiming to attract entertainment stars from the land of kimchi to organize wedding parties here.

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Le Thanh, currently, the Department of Tourism has sent a document requesting the Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa Tourism Association to coordinate with businesses providing accommodation and travel services and related service providers to develop MICE tourism packages and wedding tourism products with many incentives to stimulate international tourists, including the Korean and Indian tourist markets. When there are attractive product packages and favorable flight routes, Khanh Hoa tourism will further promote promotional activities to attract international visitors to hold weddings in Khanh Hoa, especially Indian tourists.
