Da Nang tourism maintains growth momentum of domestic visitors

Domestic tourists are an important driving force and have good growth momentum, so the Da Nang tourism industry is taking many actions to continue stimulating this market.

The attraction of Danang

The report "Needs and behaviors of Vietnamese tourists in the summer of 2025" by The Outbox Company (a company specializing in data analysis, providing solutions for the tourism industry) shows that the travel behavior of Vietnamese people in the summer of 2025 has some positive changes.

Notably, the budget for tourism in the mid- and high-end segments has increased compared to the same period (up 6.1% compared to summer 2024). This is an opportunity for destinations providing high-quality services to expand their products, targeting the domestic tourist segment with high spending capacity.

It is not surprising that Da Nang is becoming a top destination for domestic tourists, especially after the merger of some famous tourist attractions of Quang Nam province (old) which are also located in Da Nang city.

Records from a number of accommodation establishments in Hoi An Dong Ward (on the outskirts of the old Hoi An city) show that the number of room bookings from domestic guests in the mid-range and higher price segment (about 1 million VND/room or more) has grown quite well compared to the same period, instead of the tendency to choose the low-cost price segment as before.

According to data from The Outbox Company, Da Nang leads the list of localities that tourists prioritize during the summer tourist season. According to data from the world's leading online travel platform "booking.com", Da Nang ranks 2nd in the top 10 destinations that tourists are interested in searching for during the upcoming National Day holiday (Hoi An also ranks 8th in this ranking).

Statistics in July 2025 show that the total number of visitors served by accommodation establishments in the city is estimated at nearly 1.99 million. Of which, domestic visitors are estimated at nearly 1.39 million (up 5.9% compared to the previous month and up 18.2% compared to the same period in 2024).

In the first 7 months of 2025, the total number of guests served by accommodation establishments is estimated at 10.8 million, of which domestic guests will reach about 6.5 million (accounting for 60% of total guests and an increase of 17.1% over the same period in 2024).

Increased stimulus

According to traditional trends, the low season for domestic tourists usually begins after the National Day holiday on September 2nd due to students returning to school and local bad weather patterns appearing more frequently.

In the stimulus program to attract tourists to Da Nang in the last months of the year that the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has just announced, the program "Megasale to experience Da Nang tourism" is one of the highlights that domestic tourists are interested in.

According to this program, on September 5, many units such as New Orient Hotel, Fusion Resort & Villas Da Nang, Wink Hotel Vietnam - Wink Hotel Key Rings, Dong Giang Heaven Gate Eco-tourism Area, Dong Dinh Museum, CSO Gallery... will discount up to 50% on accommodation, dining, and entertainment services.

Large entertainment complexes in the city also offer many attractive promotions to attract domestic visitors such as the "Proud of Vietnam" program with a 30-40% discount for domestic visitors from August 30 to September 30; Vinwonders Nam Hoi An with a program of buying 2 adult tickets and getting 1 child ticket free (valid until August 29)...

Ms. Tran Thi Ngoc Giau - General Manager of VinWonders Nam Hoi An informed that domestic visitors account for about 70% of the total number of visitors of Vinwonders Nam Hoi An, so the unit often offers many incentive packages to stimulate this market.

After the "Endless Summer" promotion ends, Vinwonders Nam Hoi An is expected to continue to launch incentive packages specifically for the Vietnamese market such as "Proud of Vietnam", packages for locals and packages for students nationwide.

According to Ms. Truong Thi Hong Hanh - Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Da Nang City, the tourism stimulus program just announced from now until the end of the year aims to contribute to completing the goal of welcoming about 17.3 million overnight guests of Da Nang. From now until the end of the year, the tourism industry will promote synchronous solutions to attract visitors, in which domestic visitors are an important segment that needs to be strengthened to ensure the set target.
