On October 17, in Khanh Hoa province, Vietnam Internet Network Information Center (VNNIC) - Ministry of Science and Technology held a conference of members connecting the National Internet Exchange VNIX NOG 2025.
2025 marks the 10th anniversary of the VNIX-NOG event held in Vietnam - an important milestone in the journey of building and developing the domestic Internet network operating community.
With the theme “Peering 2.0: IPv6 Only and Automation - Towards the next generation of Internet development”, this year's conference emphasizes on enhancing peering routing connections, promoting the development of the new generation Internet with IPv6-only, automating network management to create a leap for the development of the next generation of Internet; in addition, the goal is to enhance safety, improve infrastructure quality, innovate, pioneer, and bring Vietnam's Internet infrastructure into a phase of smart, safe and sustainable development.
Speaking at the Conference, Acting Director of Vietnam Internet Center Nguyen Truong Giang said that VNIX-NOG is not only a place to connect members but also becomes an annual technical forum where experts, engineers and technology businesses share experiences, together moving towards a safe, sustainable and open Internet.
Vietnam Internet Center is the unit assigned by the Ministry of Science and Technology to manage and develop national Internet resources including .vn domain names and Internet addresses, as well as the role of operating the National Internet Exchange VNIX - essential digital infrastructure serving the connection of digital platforms, a solution to promote national digital transformation.
According to Mr. Nguyen Truong Giang, Vietnam currently has about 78.44 million Internet users, equivalent to nearly 80% of the population, accessing through wired and wireless infrastructure of domestic service providers. At this time, VNIX has achieved a connection bandwidth of more than 500 Gbps, peak traffic reaching 80 Gbps - although still modest compared to major transit centers in the world, this is a stable and sustainable development step of the national Internet infrastructure.
One of the notable achievements is that Vietnam's routing source authentication (ROA) deployment rate is currently 98.4% IPv4 and 75.5% IPv6, far exceeding the global average (53% IPv4, 43% IPv6). This achievement demonstrates the efforts of the VNIX-NOG community over the years, always pioneering in promoting routing safety and Internet security.
In Vietnam, the current period is an important time to promote the development of the new generation Internet, convert to IPv6-only, develop VNIX, enhance security, improve the quality of network infrastructure to serve service development...
Currently, traffic through VNIX still accounts for a small part of Vietnam's total Internet connection demand. However, with new opportunities of digital transformation, digital government, digital economy and digital society, we believe that VNIX will continue to expand, attracting more participation from content businesses, educational and financial organizations and government agencies.
The VNIX-NOG 2025 conference brings together units under the Ministry of Science and Technology, VNIX member enterprises, major technology companies and international and regional experts. Before the main conference, a workshop on peering and ensuring Internet routing security in IPv6-only network infrastructure was held on October 16.
