(QBĐT) - One afternoon in a foreign land, I happily received a gift from my hometown. My emotions were overflowing, because it was a newly published book by a younger brother, a teacher in my hometown of Le Thuy. With love and pride for my hometown, that night, I spent time reading the entire book "Kien Giang Source" by author Do Duc Thuan.

I was immersed in a strange emotion. Because, I could not believe that a teacher who is always busy with teaching, preparing lesson plans, researching active teaching methods and participating in many volunteer activities... would take the trouble to write a book of nearly 500 pages about his homeland like that!

Closing the pages of the book, filled with the author's simple love, before my eyes appeared a clear scene of a beautiful, peaceful countryside of Le Thuy: Green fields of young rice. Villages with fresh flowers and rich fruits. And the highlight was the soft Kien Giang river winding gracefully between the two eroding banks...

Many articles in the book I have read over time on the author's personal page with many different genres and styles: Research, political commentary, prose, essays... Now collected in one book, like fruits in a spring garden full of fragrance and color, crowded, bustling, demanding to burst into life. A Le Thuy with white rice, clear water, charming rivers; honest and sincere people, telling it like it is. A Le Thuy rich in cultural sediments, and a heroic river full of loving memories...

Kien Giang is the soul, the source of eternal youth, creating and beautifying the unique cultural features of the land and people of Le Thuy.

With 464 pages printed in 14.5x20.5cm size, licensed by Literature Publishing House, “Kien Giang Source” will take readers to explore the customs, traditions, festivals and pure cultural characteristics of the Le Thuy plain, one of the two famous districts since ancient times. In particular, Le Thuy folk songs and the boat racing festival on Kien Giang river are recognized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism as national intangible heritage.

The National Assembly and the State have just had a policy to abolish the district level. Many people in my hometown are worried that the name Le Thuy will disappear along with the name of Quang Binh province. But like the Kien Giang River, Le Thuy people will not easily leave and lose that beloved name. "The source of Kien Giang" will be the shore that contributes to anchoring the soul of the homeland and its eternal values ​​for generations of people in my hometown today and forever.
