According to tourism workers, Nam O fish sauce craft village is one of the 7 intangible cultural heritages of Da Nang included in the list of national intangible cultural heritages. This is considered a valuable resource of each region, if exploited properly, it will create an attraction to attract domestic and foreign tourists. Nam O fish sauce craft village is associated with the place name Nam O, has advantages in natural landscape, culture, history, has great value, very convenient to exploit, forming a unique and attractive tourism product of the city.
Mr. Tran Ngoc Vinh, Chairman of the Nam O Traditional Fish Sauce Craft Village Association, said that along with the production, preservation and development of the craft village, the association has encouraged members of the craft village to build a story about Nam O fish sauce, research and create fish sauce coffee products, welcome tourist groups to visit the craft village, and introduce the craft village.
In the past time, more than 5,000 domestic and foreign tourists have come to visit and learn about the fish sauce production model in the craft village. The Huong Lang Co fish sauce production facility also organizes activities for Tiktokers (content creators on the Tiktok platform) to visit and experience the life of the craft village such as going to the dawn market to buy seafood, cooking at local houses, visiting the craft village relics, and enjoying local specialties.
Vice Chairman of Lien Chieu District People's Committee Tran Cong Nguyen said that in order to develop craft village tourism, functional sectors and localities have paid attention to restoring and preserving historical relics such as Nam O communal house, Ong tomb, Am Linh palace, building explanations at relic sites; preserving and promoting cultural values of relics and localities. With the formation of a community tourism program associated with local cultural life, through tourism activities, visitors can learn about the history, culture, and customs of the locality, contributing to raising awareness of the traditional cultural values of the locality as well as improving the lives of people in craft villages.
According to Deputy Director of the Department of Tourism Tan Van Vuong, in order to develop craft villages and attract visitors, on October 19, 2022, the City People's Committee issued a project on Orientation for tourism development in Da Nang city to 2030, with a vision to 2045, identifying cultural - historical tourism and eco-tourism as typical tourism products to create differences and competitive advantages for Da Nang tourism, and at the same time identifying "Developing community tourism associated with traditional culture in the Nam O area as the city's main product".
In recent times, the People's Committee of Lien Chieu district has proactively worked with the Department of Tourism, the Department of Culture and Sports, the Department of Education and Training and related departments, agencies and sectors to actively research and advise the City People's Committee on solutions to develop tourism in the Nam O area, promote the Nam O fish sauce craft village; invest in parking lot infrastructure, upgrade and renovate relics in the area to serve tourism; start the Nam O Eco-tourism Area project; inaugurate the park at the end of Nguyen Tat Thanh street; build an explanatory lesson to learn about and visit relics associated with the Nam O fish sauce craft village...
The Department of Tourism also supports the organization of promotional activities, introducing local tourism products and OCOP products; organizes training courses on professional skills and tourism services for local people, and connects tourism businesses and travel agencies to build and exploit school tourism products and experiential activities associated with Nam O fish sauce craft village. Up to now, community tourism and educational tourism programs have been formed associated with local cultural life, Nam O fish sauce craft village and local cultural and historical relics.
However, according to Mr. Tan Van Vuong, the current reality of exploiting the value of the historical and cultural relics of Nam O fish sauce craft village is still limited and has not really brought about the expected results. Relevant units need to have solutions to link tourism with craft villages so that the craft village becomes an attractive destination for visitors by investing and completing infrastructure to ensure that households in the craft village have space to welcome large groups of visitors, have tours to bring visitors to visit and experience; invest in landscapes, typical check-in models, parking lots; research and invest in building a Nam O fish sauce product showroom.
Relevant units coordinate with the Da Nang Tourism Association and tourism service businesses in the city to advise people on deploying products and services in the Nam O fish sauce craft village area that suit tourists' tastes. At the same time, deploy educational tourism products, culinary tourism combined with learning experiences, learning about culture and history in the Nam O area. Thereby connecting the formation of a sightseeing and experience route in the Nam O fish sauce craft village with the cultural and historical values of Hai Van Quan relic, forming a new cluster of tourism products; developing human resources and improving service quality; ensuring environmental sanitation, food hygiene and safety; upgrading local cultural events and festivals associated with the activities of the fish sauce craft village to attract tourists...
