Keep the love of books alive through technology.
According to founder Ngo Tan Tien, who created the Skoolib app, he has had a special love for books since childhood. However, when he entered university, that passion turned into a source of worry. Once, a lecturer recommended a specialized book he needed to read, but the library lacked an online search function. After searching for a while, he discovered the book had already been borrowed, leaving him with no choice but to go home.
In the days that followed, the question kept echoing in his mind: why didn't the library have an online system for students to search, check the status, and reserve books remotely? He wondered why, with many new textbooks he wanted to donate to those in need, there was no way to connect. Countless questions arose, fueling his dream of an application that would help libraries, large or small, manage their book collections, borrowing, returning, and interacting with readers efficiently, scientifically , and in a user-friendly manner.
Mr. Tien created Skoolib, an application that serves as a smart platform for managing school libraries. The application supports schools and public libraries in digitizing and simplifying library operations such as managing and inventorying books, searching, borrowing, returning books, and recommending books.
The dream of digitizing school libraries.
Skoolib created a solution that is easy to deploy and aligns with the digital transformation trends in Vietnam and the world . Therefore, in 2018, he released Handy Library as an MVP (Minimum Viable Product) to test the idea.
As a result, the app has achieved over 1 million downloads, translated 25 languages, and is used in over 170 countries. Based on that foundation, in 2023, he and his passionate young colleagues founded Bookshare with the mission of developing Skoolib - a smart library platform for schools and public libraries.
In 2025, Skoolib officially launched on Android and released a website version, creating a multi-platform management ecosystem synchronized in real time via cloud computing. As a result, the platform attracted 40,000 new registered users and maintained 4,000 users per month, primarily from Europe. The project was recognized as an outstanding project at the FINC+ 2025 Interactive Incubation Program organized by the Da Nang Business Incubator and sponsored by the city's Department of Science and Technology.
According to Mr. Le Khac Toan, Director of Application Technology at Skoolib, the application has signed a cooperation agreement with Duong Lieu Library (Hanoi). The project is currently supporting the management of 15,000 books at two locations, serving over 3,000 readers. The goal is to become a leading school library platform globally, where every school possesses a smart, modern, and efficient library, contributing to improved access to knowledge for students and the community.
Mr. Tien described that 2025 marks a significant turning point for Skoolib in the digital transformation of library management, bringing books to the right people, in the right way, and in the right place. Skoolib is currently expanding into the US market. Simultaneously, they are seeking support for content strategy on TikTok platforms to build brand recognition and attract users.
Going forward, the application will focus on optimizing features to ensure it effectively addresses the needs of school libraries, thereby increasing the rate of regular users and paying subscriptions. Simultaneously, it will upgrade the features of digital library subsystems such as: integrating ebooks, audiobooks, and advanced document management, and strengthening data security systems…
In addition, the launch of an AI-powered smart library assistant helps summarize book content, answer questions, and personalize book recommendations for each reader.
