The above information was announced by Mr. Tran Anh Tu, Deputy Director of the Department of High Technology ( Ministry of Science and Technology ) at the regular press conference for the first quarter of 2024, organized by the Ministry of Science and Technology on the afternoon of April 9.

According to Tran Anh Tu, Deputy Director of the High Technology Department, artificial intelligence (AI) is considered one of the core technologies of the fourth industrial revolution. In recent years, many countries around the world have begun to recognize the inevitable development trend and the enormous transformational impact of AI in all aspects of social life. Vietnam cannot stand outside this development trend.

Recognizing the importance of AI, the Ministry of Science and Technology has proposed that the Government approve the National Strategy on Research, Development and Application of Artificial Intelligence by 2030, aiming to create a "boost" for Vietnam's AI industry, contributing to socio -economic development and gradually making Vietnam one of the bright spots in AI.

According to Mr. Tran Anh Tu, in recent times, ministries and branches have participated in the development of corridor documents, gradually creating conditions for the development of artificial intelligence, especially data issues. On February 2, 2024, the Government approved the National Data Strategy. This is the basis and data for the development of artificial intelligence in Vietnam. The Ministry of Science and Technology, with the role of supporting research and development, has a number of scientific research programs such as Program KC01 "Research, development and application of information technology to serve the development of digital government and smart cities".

Commenting on this issue, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Nguyen Hoang Giang stated that the AI policy has been issued with Decision No. 127/QD-TTg dated January 26, 2021 approving the National Strategy on Research, Development and Application of Artificial Intelligence to 2030 and Decision No. 411/QD-TTg dated March 31, 2022 approving the National Strategy for Development of Digital Economy and Digital Society to 2025, with a vision to 2030.

Therefore, with AI, Vietnam cannot stay out of the game but must ensure two factors; on the one hand, Vietnam must build an open legal corridor, meeting practical requirements for research, application in life, promoting socio-economic development. On the other hand, Vietnam needs to learn and share experiences from developed countries, take the lead in a responsible direction, suitable to Vietnamese culture and avoid damage. "In particular, the development of digital technology must go hand in hand with responsibility and ethics," the Deputy Minister stated./.
