The patient's family said that about 4-5 years ago, Mr. C. was stabbed in the left cheek by a sharp object. Instead of going to a medical facility, he cleaned the wound himself by pouring weed killer to disinfect it, then did not follow up with further treatment.
Recently, Mr. C. had a high fever, severe pain, and a wound on his face that was continuously oozing fluid and pus, so he went to the Muong Cha District Medical Center for examination. Here, seeing signs of serious injury, the patient was transferred to Dien Bien Provincial General Hospital.
At the hospital, doctors provided first aid, initial treatment and indicated emergency surgery. During the intervention, doctors noted extensive necrosis of the patient's face, exposed cheekbones, destroyed soft tissue and dozens of parasites (maggots) inside the wound. This patient is continuing treatment at the hospital.
Through the treatment of the above case, doctors noted that a small wound if not treated properly can become a serious infection, leading to serious consequences.
When people have skin wounds, they need to wash them with clean water, cover them with sterile gauze and go to the nearest medical facility for examination, advice and timely treatment.
Absolutely do not use chemicals, drugs of unknown origin or word-of-mouth methods to treat wounds. If there are unusual signs such as swelling, pain, pus discharge, fever... go to a medical facility immediately for treatment.
