The 2025 High School Graduation Exam has left mixed emotions in the hearts of more than 1.1 million candidates nationwide. For them, it could be joy for doing well on the test, regret for a difficult question, or nervous anticipation of the results. For parents, these days are a time to quietly accompany their children with love, hope, and pride.
Under the harsh early summer sun or sudden rains, parents from bustling cities to remote border areas… still patiently wait outside the school gate. Some take the opportunity to bring water, lunch boxes, and cold towels; others silently follow their children's every step. Gentle hugs, words of advice before exams, or trusting eyes are the ways they give their children strength on the journey of "passing the gate of heaven".

Ms. Vo Thi Dung (Thu Duc, Ho Chi Minh City) shared: "My family has two children taking the exam this year, the older one is taking the high school graduation exam, the younger one is taking the 10th grade entrance exam. The whole family has been worried for the past few months. I haven't been able to sleep well because I miss my children. Before each exam, I just hug my children tightly to give them more confidence to enter the exam room."
Ms. Hoang Thi Hanh (Binh Thanh, Ho Chi Minh City) expressed her concern about the erratic weather: "Yesterday afternoon, it rained so hard that the whole street was flooded. It was raining, and seeing my child sad because of a difficult math problem, I was also very upset. I was afraid that if my child got caught in the rain, he would get sick. To accompany my child, I had to take a few days off to focus on picking him up and taking him to school, and cooking for peace of mind. Sitting on the back of the motorbike, my child is older than me, but in my mind, he always needs to be protected."
In remote border areas, parental love is equally present, and sometimes it is even more difficult to pick up and drop off students. At the exam site of Kon Tum Ethnic Minority High School, at 5am, Ms. Luong Thi Chuyen (Ya Xier Commune, Sa Thay District, Kon Tum) was present with a hot lunch box for her daughter. She woke up early in the morning, cooked rice and soup, and traveled more than 50km by motorbike so that her daughter could have a decent meal before entering the exam room.
Ms. Chuyen's family has been in difficult circumstances for many years. She is raising her children and taking care of her elderly parents alone. She has to do many jobs to provide for her children's food and education. Candidate Thao - Ms. Chuyen's daughter - has helped her mother with farming, rubber tapping, and cassava harvesting since she was young when she was on vacation. During her 3 years of high school, she stayed in a boarding school and always tried to save money to ease her mother's burden. "My daughter has a weak stomach, so I want to cook for her myself. This exam is important, I quit everything to be with her, to give her more motivation to reach her dream of becoming a teacher," Ms. Chuyen emotionally said.
Also wishing to accompany her child, Ms. Y Nguon (44 years old, Dak Plo commune, Dak Glei district, Kon Tum) traveled more than 4 hours by bus to get to Kon Tum on time to support her daughter. "In the past, I used to go to the exam alone, no one picked me up or encouraged me, I felt very sad. Now that my child is taking the exam, I put aside all my work to be with her," she confided.
Ms. Y Nguon traveled many hours to support and encourage her son to pass the gate.
In this exam, Ms. Trinh Thi Thuong (living at the Ia H'Drai border, Kon Tum province) also asked for leave from work to go to the Kon Tum Ethnic Minority High School exam site to encourage her daughter Le Thuy Trang to "pass the gate". Wishing to accompany her daughter to pass the most important exam of her life, Ms. Thuong asked the company to take 3 days off from her rubber tapping job. Thuy Trang is a good student, her favorite subject is Literature. In the 2025 high school graduation exam, Thuy Trang will take the following subjects: Math, Literature, History and Geography. Her dream is to study Preschool Education so that she can return to teach children in the border area.

"My husband also really wants to go, but we have a small child at home, so we have to encourage and cheer him on from afar. It's the rubber tapping season now, so we can't both take time off at the same time. Before the exam, I always tell my son to stay calm and read the questions carefully to do well on the exam," Ms. Thuong shared.
