Inadequacies in university admissions make parents "restless"
At the end of the 2025 high school graduation exam, instead of feeling relaxed, many parents are feeling restless and worried. The main reason comes from the inadequacies in the way of calculating university admission scores, especially when this year's Math and English exams are considered very difficult.

Her child's wish is to pass the entrance exam to the National Economics University. . As a student taking the A01 exam (Math, Physics, English), Ms. Van Anh is confident that her daughter has many opportunities if only considering the same exam block. .
"The Physics test was easy so I calculated to get over 9 points. Many students said the Math test was difficult but I estimated to get 8.5-9 points," she shared about feeling somewhat secure with these two subjects. In particular, "the English test was very difficult so I didn't know how to calculate the score after the test. Luckily, I got an IELTS score of 6.0 to convert to 8.5 points." , this is a great advantage to help her child "survive" a challenging English exam.
Ms. Van Anh lamented: "With this score, if only compared to other students in the same group A01, it is considered okay, my child has many opportunities to pass the faculty he loves. However, like many schools, the National Economics University does not calculate the standard score for each group but calculates the general standard score for groups such as D01, A01, A00. This causes inconvenience and is unfair to candidates. Students taking the A00 group (Math, Physics, Chemistry) will have more advantages when the Physics and Chemistry exams are not difficult." . Ms. Van Anh's concern is completely justified. If the exam has different levels of difficulty between subjects, especially between groups of exams that are considered for admission together, it will clearly create great unfairness for candidates. .

Not only Ms. Van Anh, sadness and anxiety also covered many other families. Ms. Nguyen Thi Hang (Vi Hoang Ward, Nam Dinh City) sadly shared the story of her child when yesterday's Math subject was not as good as expected. This morning, Ms. Hang hoped that English - which is her child's forte - would bring back her emotions, but the reality made her even more worried. .
"My child said the English test was difficult, with many specialized words, so he couldn't do much. Honestly, looking at him, I feel so sorry for him. He studied so hard, studying day and night, but the test questions didn't follow the curriculum he was learning. The practical questions in the test were too far from his age and level." . Ms. Hang felt very sad when she saw "her child's eyes filled with disappointment.
The general feeling of many parents whose children have just taken the 2025 high school graduation exam is confusion and helplessness. They believe that with the exam questions being so difficult like this year, while the Ministry of Education and Training has just issued Circular 29 banning extra teaching and learning, this is no different from a "puzzle" and making it difficult for candidates. The sighs and worried looks of parents are the clearest evidence of the insecurity about an exam that is supposed to ensure fairness, but the exam questions are much more difficult than the curriculum.
