University Admissions 2026: Candidates can register an unlimited number of wishes

The Ministry of Education and Training has issued a plan for university and college admissions in 2026, which stipulates that candidates can still register an unlimited number of applications within the allowed time period.

On November 3, the Ministry of Education and Training sent Decision 3037/QD-BGDDT to universities and colleges nationwide, promulgating the plan to implement university and college enrollment in 2026. According to this plan, candidates are allowed to register an unlimited number of wishes within the allowed time period (12 days).

University admissions in 2026 will be the same as every year, with relevant parties closely coordinating according to the general plan under the support and supervision of the Ministry of Education and Training; the processing of applications will still be carried out on the common system, and the admission process will be the same as every year. Colleges that participate in processing applications on the common admission system must follow this general plan.

Here are the notable milestones of the general admission plan:

Before February 15, 2026, training institutions (hereinafter referred to as universities) must complete the announcement of enrollment information on the training institution's website by February 15, 2026.

Candidates must complete the submission of their applications for direct admission and priority admission to universities before 5:00 p.m. on June 20, 2026. Universities will notify candidates of the results and update the list of candidates admitted for direct admission to the system before June 30, 2026.

Candidates can register and adjust their admission wishes from July 2 to 5:00 p.m. on July 14, 2026, unlimited times within the prescribed time. Candidates can pay the admission fee (online) from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on July 21, 2026.

On July 8, the Ministry of Education and Training announced the threshold to ensure (floor score) the quality of input for teacher training majors and the health and law fields.

Before 5:00 p.m. on July 10, universities will adjust and announce the admission scores and equivalent converted admission scores on their systems and websites.

The Ministry of Education and Training and universities will conduct the first round of admission (processing applications on the system to determine the highest application among the applications that the candidate is eligible to be admitted) from 4:00 to 17:00 on August 10, 2026. Before 17:00 on August 13, 2028, universities and colleges will notify candidates who have passed the first round of admission. Thus, the schools have 3 days to reserve time to process applications.

Candidates confirm their first round of online admission on the system before 5:00 p.m. on August 21, 2026. From August 22, 2026, schools that still lack enrollment quotas can announce additional enrollment.

A new point in the general plan for enrollment in 2026 is to unify criteria for assessing the capacity of higher education institutions (unifying principles, criteria, content, expertise, and ensuring input quality standards among university admission methods).

This unification is done before the time when training institutions organize exams (competency assessment tests, thinking assessment tests, admission exams). The Ministry of Education and Training will organize supervision of the organization of competency assessment tests of the institutions during the time these institutions organize exams.
