Walking on the road is like "wading through rice fields"
Thu Bien - Dat Cuoc Road is an important route connecting Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai via Thu Bien Bridge. The project's goal is to complete the construction of Ring Road 4, Ho Chi Minh City, contributing to promoting local development. However, after a period of operation, some sections have degraded.
Present at this route on the morning of November 11, the reporter recorded the road surface being full of potholes, affecting traffic safety.
Tractor trailer drives on the curb to avoid potholesAt the intersection from Vuon Dau intersection to Thu Bien bridge, the road surface has many potholes. To avoid falling into the holes, many vehicles have to swerve to the right. Some even dodge onto the sidewalk. Motorbikes and cars jostle each other on the same part of the road to get through this section.
About 3km away, a section of road was bumpy. It was not difficult to see that there was a quarry in this area. Stone trucks were constantly coming in and out, scattering stones, causing the road to deteriorate more quickly.

On the Thu Bien – Dat Cuoc road through Thuong Tan commune, although the maximum speed limit is 60 km/h, vehicles still line up in long lines on degraded sections of road. There are sections about 30m long. When passing through here, drivers must slow down if they do not want to “scratch the undercarriage” or have an accident.
The car "crawled" through the degraded road.Mr. Nguyen Van Ut (62 years old), who owns a farmland along Thu Bien - Dat Cuoc road, said that recently the traffic on the road has increased dramatically. The appearance of "potholes" has affected the traffic situation. According to Mr. Ut, there was an incident where a tractor trailer overturned while traveling through a section with many "potholes".
What do the authorities say?
Talking to SGGP reporters, the leader of Thuong Tan Commune People's Committee said that he had reported the situation to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction and requested an early solution.
According to the People's Committee of Thuong Tan Commune, the Thu Bien - Dat Cuoc road through the commune is 6.9km long, with 4 lanes. As of the end of October, there were about 20 locations with "elephant potholes" with depths ranging from 0.3 to 0.7m and widths ranging from 0.8 to 3m.

The Department of Construction has issued an official dispatch requesting relevant units to focus on repairing and remedying damage.
Priority will be given to early handling of "potholes" and "elephant holes" at the beginning of the route and the intersection of the road leading to Thu Bien bridge and DT.746 road (within the scope of the project to upgrade and expand DT.746 road from Go bridge to Hieu Liem ferry).
