
As a mountainous, border and island province, Quang Ninh has 42 ethnic minority groups living together with over 162,000 people, accounting for over 12% of the province's population, the most of which are Dao, Tay, San Diu, Hoa... concentrated mainly in mountainous communes such as Dien Xa, Binh Lieu, Luc Hon, Ba Che, Tien Yen... In recent times, the work of managing, preserving and promoting traditional cultural values, including maintaining folk melodies for children in ethnic minority areas has been of interest to all levels, sectors and localities in Quang Ninh province and has achieved important results.
Then singing is a unique intangible cultural heritage of the Tay people in the province in general and Binh Lieu commune in particular. In order to promote the value of Then singing, in recent times, Binh Lieu commune has had many solutions and measures to preserve, maintain and promote Then melodies, especially during major festivals in and outside the province and opened Then singing - Tinh lute classes for children and teenagers in the commune.
Currently, in Binh Lieu commune, there are 5 Then singing clubs. The clubs are organized as a special playground, both nurturing the soul and contributing to preserving national identity. Through music , children gain confidence, practice their ability to perform in front of a crowd and connect with friends.
Along with Binh Lieu, Tien Yen, Dien Xa and Dong Ngu communes are highland communes of the province, in the communes there are 17 ethnic groups living together, ethnic minorities account for 52%, cultural colors are mainly preserved and promoted in the Tay, Dao, San Diu and San Chi ethnic communities. To preserve and promote the traditional cultural values of ethnic minorities in the area, especially for children, the communes have directed schools with many ethnic minorities to propagate and mobilize schools to coordinate with organizations to organize extracurricular activities such as teaching dancing, playing instruments and singing to maintain the cultural features of ethnic groups from being lost.
Typically, Branch III (Tien Yen Commune Kindergarten) has 18 classes, over 360 students, accounting for 90% of ethnic minority students, the majority of whom are Tay ethnic group. To propagate the preservation and promotion of traditional cultural values of the Tay ethnic group to students, Branch III (Tien Yen Commune Kindergarten) has built a stilt house to display typical agricultural products of ethnic groups. In addition, on festival occasions, the school allows students to participate and experience festival activities. Through the school's educational activities, students feel proud of their ethnicity and try to study well to become useful citizens for society.

Teacher Ha Thi Lien, Vice Principal of Tien Yen Kindergarten shared: In order to educate, maintain and promote the traditional cultural values of ethnic minorities for students, the school has promoted propaganda work by integrating them into extracurricular lessons, and sending teachers to artisans to learn folk songs of ethnic groups, then teaching them to students; mobilizing parents to sew ethnic costumes for children to wear to class and school events.
Along with the highland communes in the whole province, Tien Yen commune has a large number of ethnic minorities, mainly San Chay ethnic people. Soong co is a type of folk song that has been preserved by the people for many generations, becoming an indispensable spiritual food in the cultural life of the people here.
To preserve and promote the folk songs of the San Chay ethnic group, every year the Commune Youth Union coordinates with local schools to open classes to teach Song Co and invites artisans to teach students. Thereby, contributing to the preservation of a precious spiritual cultural heritage, expressing the fine traditions and unique identity of the San Chay ethnic group.
Folk songs and dances are formed in the working life, emotions and community activities of ethnic minorities, associated with the life and spirit of the people. Preserving, transmitting and promoting the unique values of traditional folk songs and dances of ethnic minorities in the highland communes of Quang Ninh province, contributing to raising awareness and pride of the people in preserving and promoting traditional cultural values.
