The national grid power supply project for Con Dao is a key and urgent project invested by Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) with a scale of nearly 5,000 billion VND, contributing to ensuring energy security and developing the island economy of the Fatherland.

The project is currently accelerating its progress to meet the target set by the Prime Minister to be completed by August 19. Following the direction of Vietnam Electricity (EVN), the National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT) has mobilized engineers and workers from the An Giang , Ca Mau, and Can Tho Power Transmission Teams (under Power Transmission Company 4) to the site to erect poles and pull wires for the project.

The leader of Power Transmission Company 4 said that, clearly identifying the urgency and strategic significance of the project for supplying electricity to Con Dao to ensure energy security, national defense security, and island security, PTC4 mobilized forces to carry out pole erection and wire pulling.

Moving out to sea to participate in erecting poles and pulling ropes is a big challenge, especially transporting materials, tools, construction equipment, and moving equipment takes a lot of time and effort.

Due to the construction conditions at sea, they had to follow the tide. In the morning, the engineers and workers woke up at 4:30 to prepare to board the ship to move to the location, and only returned to shore at 7:00 pm in the evening. Due to the position of the post at sea, there were no barges or large ships, so they could not stay overnight. However, with their available experience and high determination, the unit was determined to complete the task well.

Mr. Nguyen Van Bay, Deputy Director of PTC4, said that before leaving, the Board of Directors of PTC4 held a meeting to encourage the spirit and required the teams to fully prepare materials and construction machinery; at the same time, they developed an implementation plan and organized strict supervision to ensure quality, progress and labor safety.

The remaining time to complete the project is very short, while the weather conditions are complicated, with unpredictable rain and sunshine. Therefore, EVNNPT also requires the teams to concentrate highly, strictly comply with safety regulations during construction, ensure quality and progress according to the direction of EVN and the Prime Minister .

Overcoming complex mountainous terrain and harsh weather

At another key project of the electricity industry, the 500 kV Lao Cai - Vinh Yen Line, implementing the direction of EVN, EVNNPT has mobilized construction teams including engineers and workers from Power Transmission Companies 1, 2, 3, 4 to increase human resources and speed up progress on the entire line.

To encourage the workers' spirit, EVNNPT leaders visited and encouraged the workers participating in the construction.

Location VT149 in Luc Yen commune, Lao Cai province is undertaken by Khanh Hoa Power Transmission Team (Power Transmission Company 3).

At column 114 constructed by Quang Ngai Power Transmission Team (Power Transmission Company 2) and column 117 constructed by Ninh Binh Power Transmission Team (under Power Transmission Company 1), EVNNPT Deputy General Director Bui Van Kien and EVNNPT Deputy General Director Luu Viet Tien acknowledged and highly appreciated the efforts and initiative of the units in implementing the construction to speed up the project progress.

With the spirit of "only work, no retreat" and the slogan "overcome the sun, overcome the rain", all officers and employees showed high determination and unanimously completed the task.

EVNNPT leaders emphasized that this is a key, urgent project of strategic significance in ensuring electricity supply for the North. The project was assigned by the Prime Minister to be completed and energized in a short time, in complex mountainous terrain and harsh weather conditions, sometimes with intense heat and sometimes with sudden thunderstorms. Therefore, units need to continue to promote the spirit of competition, synchronously deploy items, and ensure progress according to requirements.

EVNNPT leaders also said that these are locations with difficult construction conditions, and moving to the locations takes a lot of time. Therefore, construction units must pay absolute attention to labor and equipment safety, and at the same time effectively perform each part of the work according to the assigned tasks.

In complex terrain conditions, workers moving equipment into position must be highly focused, ensuring absolute safety in every step of the operation.

As one of the units sending people to support the construction of the 500 kV Lao Cai - Vinh Yen Transmission Line Project, since the end of July 2025, PTC1 has proactively mobilized nearly 400 officers, engineers, and workers from its affiliated power transmission teams to approach the site, closely coordinating with Power Project Management Board 1 (EVNPMB1) to construct at 13 pole locations.

Up to now, these positions are being urgently erected poles, speeding up the progress. However, there are certain challenges. For example, at positions 105 and 110, there are steep hilly terrain, the team has completed the erection of some sections and is preparing a large crane to continue the work.
At position 107, Nghe An Power Transmission Team is completing the main busbars to ensure progress despite the muddy and deep-sunk access road. At position 140, Northeast 3 Power Transmission Team has completed the erection of 02 G84PL and 02 17P pillars, despite facing obstacles due to the backlog of materials, making it difficult to crane and erect.

At column 342 in Chan Mong commune, Phu Tho province - one of the important pole installation points of the power line, Mr. Phan Tuan Chung, Deputy Head of Ha Tinh Power Transmission Team said that during the day, the sun was hot and there was almost no wind, the terrain for gathering materials here was limited because the site clearance work of Viet A contractor with the people was difficult, so the construction was interrupted.

Promoting the spirit of construction of line 3

The Ha Tinh Power Transmission Team once participated in erecting the 300A pole - one of the most difficult poles of the Circuit 3 line, which was completed last year, so they are no strangers to difficult terrain, urgent progress, or harsh climate.

The experience accumulated from the 3rd circuit project has become a “living curriculum” in the new project. From erecting columns by hand, marking each iron bar before installation, to the coordination between the technical and transport teams, everything is neat and rhythmic thanks to the manual erection of columns in the 3rd circuit years ago.

The weather is unpredictable, workers at the construction site have to make great efforts, and safety is always a concern.

Many older workers who used to work on circuit 3 still volunteer to go to the construction site. Ho Minh Tuan from Hong Linh Transmission Company (Ha Tinh), although he is about to retire, still registered to go with the spirit of "always ready to contribute with the team to the country's key project".

Mr. Vo Thien Huy, Deputy Head of the Da Nang Power Transmission Team, under Power Transmission Company 2, said that the company sent 6 teams, each with 24 people, to the North to take up their positions from the beginning of August. "Last year, we erected poles in Thanh Hoa, so now we have more experience and find it more convenient," Mr. Huy said.

With a huge amount of work and extremely urgent progress, each worker is forced to work at high intensity. A day starts at 5:30 am, working continuously until the sun sets. Lunch is eaten right at the construction site because the sleeping place of the team must be 15-17 km away from the construction site. What makes them persevere is not only the task but also the professional responsibility and self-respect of the power transmission soldier.

The engineers and workers of Gia Lai Power Transmission Team work together smoothly, focusing on handling the foundation and erection stages according to the design.

Mr. Do Dinh Viet, Northwest Power Transmission 1, who is reinforcing at position 146, Luc Yen commune, Lao Cai province, said that when receiving the task, everyone knew it would be as difficult as when constructing circuit 3. At the construction site, everyone encouraged each other, united, and joined forces to complete the work progress. We are very proud to continue to contribute our efforts to this key project.

Not only do they inherit construction experience, they also strictly maintain the spirit of discipline - safety - precision. For them, labor safety is an order, a prerequisite that cannot be exchanged for speed.

Professionalism and corporate culture have permeated the blood of every worker, that is why when the country needs it, no matter what position, the "transmission soldier" is ready to go, day or night, rain or shine, with the determination to complete the task on schedule and ensure quality.
