Asia-Europe New Music Festival: Connecting souls, enriching national cultural identity

This festival is a colorful picture of sound, where the long-standing musical traditions of the East meet the modern musical thinking of the West, creating a new and emotional common language.

On the evening of January 27, at the Vietnam National Academy of Music ( Hanoi ), the Vietnam Musicians Association coordinated with central and Hanoi departments and branches to open the 4th Asia-Europe International New Music Festival 2025.

This is an art forum for Vietnam to promote the achievements of revolutionary music as well as new works of musicians to international friends.

In his opening speech, Chairman of the Vietnam Musicians Association Nguyen Duc Trinh shared that after a long hiatus, today, the sounds of dialogue and peace once again resounded, connecting music-loving hearts from the two continents of Asia and Europe and other countries around the world.

This event not only marks the strong return of a prestigious music festival, but also demonstrates the superior power of art, its ability to overcome all barriers to connect people.

Musician Nguyen Duc Trinh also expressed his honor and pride in welcoming talented musicians and artists - cultural ambassadors who brought not only talent but also love of music, cultural diversity and the spirit of international cooperation to Vietnam.

Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ta Quang Dong shared that as one of the important events in Vietnam's professional music life, through its organization, the Festival has created a meaningful art forum, gathering talented composers and performing artists from many countries, representing diverse and rich professional music backgrounds in the world.

Not only bringing new artistic experiences, the Festival also contributes to promoting composition, performance, as well as research, theory and music criticism in Vietnam.

The event has been attracting the attention of many artists and music lovers because of its artistic values, professionalism and significance of international cultural exchange and cooperation; it is a driving force for Vietnam to continue expanding its creative space and integration in the music field.

Deputy Minister Ta Quang Dong said that the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism always supports regional and international artistic activities; wishes to create favorable conditions for Vietnamese musicians and artists as well as international friends to have an environment to compose, stage and perform new works; at the same time contribute to orienting healthy musical aesthetic tastes, bringing the public closer to the true values ​​of high art. Thereby, music continues to be a bridge connecting people, nurturing souls and enriching national cultural identity in the era of integration.

After the opening ceremony, the audience enjoyed many special performances: Ballet Suite “Primordial Roses”; Variations on the Sisa theme; songs “River of Friendship,” “Resurrection”; and choir “The most beautiful Vietnam has the name of Uncle Ho.”

Every note, every piece of music sung is not only an expression of an individual, but also the collective voice of a world yearning for understanding and connection. Through music, bridges are built for friendship and cooperation between nations.

The Organizing Committee said the Festival has the participation of nearly 30 international musicians and artists from: Russian Federation, Tatarstan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Republic of Adygea, Denmark, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, Spain, Japan, China, Australia, Laos.

On the Vietnamese side, there are more than 220 musicians and artists from the Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra, Vietnam National Academy of Music, Vietnam National Opera and Ballet, and the Military University of Culture and Arts.

The Festival is an opportunity for foreign musicians and artists to better understand the country, people, culture and music of Vietnam, contributing to consolidating and tightening good relationships and enhancing the position of Vietnam's professional music industry in the world.

In the following days, the Asia-Europe International New Music Festival will feature international chamber music concerts, chamber music concerts by young Vietnamese musicians, and traditional folk music concerts at the Vietnam National Academy of Music (Hanoi), the Concert Hall of the Military University of Culture and Arts (Hanoi), and the Heritage Park (Cao Phong, Phu Tho).

The closing ceremony will take place on the evening of December 1 in Hanoi./.
