Recent reviews have shown that the A19 Pro has shown superior power in benchmark tests, but this does not guarantee that the iPhone 17 Pro Max will always be ahead in real-world speed tests.

In February 2025, the Galaxy S25 Ultra beat the iPhone 16 Pro Max - which was surprising considering that iPhones often outperform the latest Galaxy phones. Now, YouTube channel PhoneBuff has conducted a speed test between the iPhone 17 Pro Max and the Galaxy S25 Ultra to see if the new iPhone can surpass its main rival.
The test results reveal an interesting detail: Although the iPhone 17 Pro Max is equipped with the more powerful A19 Pro chip, the results show that the Galaxy S25 Ultra is faster.
The A19 Pro chip is not enough to help the iPhone 17 Pro Max excel
PhoneBuff's speed test found that the Galaxy S25 Ultra finished the first lap about 13 seconds faster. While the iPhone 17 Pro Max was two seconds faster in the second lap, the overall result wasn't enough to win.

It is known that, to ensure objectivity, PhoneBuff used a robot to open the same set of applications on both devices, as well as the same screen brightness level and in a room temperature environment.
While the Galaxy S25 Ultra wins this test, iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max users don't need to worry about performance. Apple's new iPhones are still fast and reliable, with a vapor chamber cooling system that helps maintain stable performance over long periods of time. The speed difference is only noticeable when using both phones at the same time.
