From early morning, from the localities of Nui Thanh, Hiep Duc, Tien Phuoc and Tam Ky city, more than 150 disabled children, along with their parents and relatives, came to the Center for Supporting Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin and People with Disabilities in Quang Nam province to participate in the program. In the bustling atmosphere, laughter echoed throughout the central yard, the disabled children were immersed in physical games such as dancing to music, passing the ball with their heads or participating in a creative painting contest. Each activity seemed to help the children temporarily forget their disadvantages and disabilities, confidently express themselves and fully enjoy the joy of childhood.

Participating in the game of passing the ball with his head, Pham Minh Khoi (10 years old, Tam Quang commune, Nui Thanh) eagerly blew the ball and passed it with his teacher while being cheered by his grandmother and everyone else. Khoi's grandmother shared: "Seeing my grandson so active and enthusiastic in participating in the activities makes me happy, because the past 10 years have been a journey of great effort by Khoi and his whole family in improving his speaking ability."

In the hall, with incomplete strokes and scribbles, but with the enthusiastic help of their parents and teachers, the children skillfully created vivid paintings, carrying profound messages about nature, friendship and the will to live.

Le Ha Xuan Quyen (11 years old, Hiep Duc district) explained about her painting: “The flowers in the painting are symbols of kindness, friendship and love between disabled friends”. Her confession made many adults speechless. Those children, despite their physical disabilities, have a soul that knows how to sympathize and rise up strongly.

In a corner of the yard, Khanh Nguyen (5 years old, Hiep Duc) - a girl with a defect in her right eye, eagerly ran after the clown's games and was happy to be given a heart-shaped ball.

Ms. Le Thi Kim Cuc - Nguyen's mother shared with happiness in her eyes: "Before, my child was very shy and rarely interacted with strangers. But since participating in the rehabilitation project for two years now, he has become bolder and more confident. I am not only happy because my child has made progress, but also feel warm knowing that the community always accompanies and loves the children."

Perhaps, the innocent smiles, the striving steps, and the radiant moments when the children are happy and excited are the greatest happiness for all the silent efforts from the organizing committee, nurses, teachers at rehabilitation centers, medical stations in project communes, volunteers, especially parents.

Seeing the children enthusiastically participating in the program, Mr. Hua Quoc Dung - Chairman of the Provincial Association of the Disabled could not hide his joy and emotion. He shared: “I am very happy to witness the results of our tireless efforts in caring for, looking after and accompanying disabled children. They are a vulnerable group, in great need of special attention and favorable conditions to integrate into the community. I hope that the program is not only a fun playground for the children but also becomes a bridge connecting parents with disabled children, so that they can encourage, share and support each other in the process of caring for and raising their children”.

Ms. Doan Thi Hoai Nhi - Deputy Director of the Department of Health of Quang Nam province shared that organizing the program not only brings joy but also arouses the responsibility of all levels, sectors and the whole community in accompanying children with disabilities. "We hope that children can participate in all activities equally, be cared for, nurtured, study and play in a barrier-free environment, towards a truly inclusive community" - Ms. Nhi said.

The exchange program “Connecting the community of children with disabilities” ended in an emotional atmosphere with loud applause, warm handshakes of encouragement and sparkling eyes of hope from both adults and children. A warm and meaningful International Children's Day for children with disabilities in Quang Nam.

This is a meaningful activity within the framework of the project “Rehabilitation and improvement of quality of life for children with disabilities in Quang Nam province, phase 2024 - 2026”. The project was implemented from March 27, 2024. Currently, there are 191 children with disabilities participating in rehabilitation rooms funded by the Korea International Cooperation Agency KOICA.
