At the end of the trading session last night and early this morning (May 21, Vietnam time), the world coffee market witnessed a slight downward trend. On the London floor (UK), Robusta coffee prices fell across the board, down from 1.3% to 1.41%. Meanwhile, Arabica coffee prices on the New York floor (USA) also fell from 1.11% to 1.41%.
Specifically, the price of Robusta coffee contract for July 2025 delivery was recorded at 4,903 USD per ton, down 70 USD compared to the previous session. The following terms also decreased similarly: the contract for September 2025 delivery was at 4,895 USD/ton (down 67 USD), November 2025 was at 4,859 USD/ton (down 64 USD), and January 2026 was down to 4,786 USD/ton (down 63 USD).
In the domestic market, coffee prices yesterday afternoon - before the London exchange opened - increased sharply to VND126,600 per kilogram, VND2,000 higher than before. This increase reflects positive sentiment from the strong price increase at the beginning of the week. However, with the latest downward trend from the world market, domestic coffee prices are expected to "cool down" today.
As for Arabica coffee, the July contract fell sharply by $120 to $8,140 per ton.

Coffee prices on the world's two main exchanges fell after the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced that the coffee output forecast for the next crop year (2025-2026) of the two leading producing countries, Brazil and Vietnam, will both increase.
Of which, Brazil's estimated output is 65 million bags (each bag weighs 60 kg), up 0.46%, while Vietnam's output is 31 million bags, up 6.9% compared to the current crop year.
The Vietnam Coffee and Cocoa Association (VICOFA) has just announced a coffee export report for the first half of May with surprising figures.
In terms of green coffee alone, businesses exported about 68,400 tons during this period, worth 373 million USD; an increase of 73% in output and 146% in value compared to the same period last year.
The main export is still Robusta coffee with 62,700 tons, turnover of 345 million USD, up 83% in volume and 155% in value compared to the same period in 2024.
The export price of Robusta coffee during this period was 5,336 USD/ton, although it decreased compared to March and April, it was much higher than the futures price of coffee on the floor.
